Wonderfully executed landscape scene with a stream running through the trees with hills in the background. Signed lower right Edward W. Doyle. Very good condition. Gorgeous mountain landscape oil painting on canvas by Samuel Lancaster Gerry. Approximately 21" x 29" WITHOUT the frame. WITH the frame it measures 26 1/2" x 34 1/2". Signed GERRY 1852 lower right. This painting depicts a wonderful mountain landscape with buildings by a lake. It has a waterfall, mountain goats, sheep, a cow, boats on the water, 2 gentlemen riding on horseback and a young girl walking a goat. Samuel Lancaster Gerry, American, 1813-1891. He was President of the Boston Art Club in 1858. He was a Hudson River School painter and leader of the White Mountain School. He was co-founder of the Boston Art Club. He lived in Europe. His specialties are landscapes, Italy, castles, rivers, fishermen and boats. Gregor's Beaux Arts Gallery, 32 Millberry St., Hartford 3, Conn. lable on back. Frame may not be original to painting. An iconic scene by Daniels a version of which can be seen the the book "Florida's Highwaymen Legendary Landscapes" by Bob Beatty, pg. 55. The piece is in oil on Upson board used in the Highwaymens vintage works and measures 24" by 30" and 28" by 34" framed. Signed by Daniels hand front bottom right and also on the rear in pencil with title "River Scene". The piece is in excellent condition with no damage. Lyman Byxbe is one of many great artists who have turned to the majestic Rocky Mountains for inspiration and the subject matter of their compositions. He became a successful commercial artist in Omaha, Nebraska, where he studied the art of etching under Mark Levings, an architect. In 1938 Mr. Byxbe moved to Estes Park, Colorado, where he has had a summer studio for many years. Most of the artist's time and talent was devoted to copper plate etching in his mountain studio. Here is a beautiful example of Byxbe's work in a generous 5 1/2" by 7" sight and 8" by 15" overall size with frame. Lyman Byxbe has been honored by membership in the Chicago Society of Etchers, Miniature Print Society of Kansas City, Missouri, and Northwest Printmakers of Seattle, Washington. He is represented in the permanent collections in Washington D.C. of the National Gallery of Arts, at the Smithsonian Institute and the Library of Congress. The piece is signed by Byxbe and titled "Dream Lake" and is freshly acid-free matted and framed in a black matte fine frame.   « Less

Thomas Moran, American Artist Born in 1837 and Died in 1926. Very well listed artist who's works are vastly sought after. This is a Colored Lithograph, now laid down on paper, signed within the print and with a additional pencil signature and title to large paper. Frame size is 21 3/4" X 25 3/4". Titles 'Rock Towers of Rio Virgin". Good Condition with only frame having losses at corners and the paper is slightly yellowed. This lithograph by Moran is done very well as are mostly all of his works. The only issues are the damage to the original frame with losses at the corners.   « Less
