I just love these plates! They are so delicate and subtle in decoration. They have pale yellow bands on white ground and are edged with gold. The bands are painted with roses and foliate twining vines, each plate a variation on this theme. The delicacy of coloration, style and unique pattern for each plate, all executed very nicely indeed, make these plates understated and elegant! Very difficult to photograph because of the unusual coloration.
Condition is excellent. No loss; no signs of use. Clearly these plates were lovingly cared for over the years. The mark dates from 1890-1932; that's as close as I can get to the age of the plates. « Less

What a fabulous little French faience box! Blue on blue on a white ground, the box is decorated with 'lambrequins': a floral, foliate and spiral design common to Lille and Rouen. There are as well five panels, or cartouches with scenes hand painted on each side and the top. The largest scene is on the top, a landscape with two women in the foreground, birds and clouds in the sky. On the sides, each panel is decorated with a landscape or seascape. Just delightful! Probably 19th Century.
Dimensions: 5" long, 3" front to back and 2 3/8" high.

Exquisite rich impasto gilt work on these fine porcelain chargers. Actually, several applications of gold. Made by Royal Doulton for J. Caldwell & Co., one of Philadelphia's finest names in retail luxury items. The floral design is raised, there are charming beads embellishing the elegant belle epoch linear design work. Condition is very good for these plates. One has some crazing. The wear to all is quite minimal considering the age, circa 1940-1950. One small scratch on the white ground of one plate. In all, a most elegant set to provide your family and guests the finest dining experience. « Less

Very decorative large mantel vases, tulip shaped with a burgundy face, a large oval cartouche with a generous gilt band encircling a rose bouquet, all hand painted! The More »
Very decorative large mantel vases, tulip shaped with a burgundy face, a large oval cartouche with a generous gilt band encircling a rose bouquet, all hand painted! The elaborate formed sides comprise gilt vining leafs. The formed top is also generously rimmed with a gilt band.
Condition is good. Some flaws: losses to the gilt and the formed leafs on both. One of the vases has some discoloration on the formed leafs. This actually does come off. I removed a good bit of it and the gilt is fairly intact beneath.
Marks: as per usual, Old Paris pieces are frequently not marked. The Sevres porcelain works severely regulated and constrained other porcelain manufacturies in France during the 1800's. Ran the poor Hanong family out of France entirely. Smart porcelain makers did not draw Sevres fire. As to this pair, there is an incised numeral on bottom and three incised lines. Please see photos for the marks and the dimensions. « Less

Delicate graceful courting couple in white porcelain hand painted with pink glazes, gilt and polychrome touches to the eyes and hair. Our gentleman is in a powdered wig, our lady in a tiara. Each gently bows to the other. Certainly takes us back to a moment in time reminiscent of that described by the Bronte sisters. Dimensions: Gentleman 7 1/4" tall, lady just under 7"3" at the widest points each figurine. Condition: very good. There's a small flake off the top of the tiara. No other flaws noted. Marks: each has what appears to be a script lower case 'h' written in the paste. I don't recognize the mark. It's not entirely unlike a Hannong mark (which it most certainly is not). « Less

This is a beauty! And a very rare Copeland & Garrett charger from 1831-1843. Likely part of the country hunt scenes series from 1833. Exquisitely hand painted this hunt scene comprised of 2 dogs and a rabbit in a pastoral scene. Elaborate gilding pattern on the white ground. Condition is good. There is a hairline crack clearly delineated in the photographs. Not easily visibly from the front of the plate. Very little loss to the gilt. Clearly this plate has been well cared for over it's 150 plus years. There is some sort of nearly transparent residue on the base of the hunt scene. Withal the charger is a masterpiece, the sort of plate you will find at important British Porcelain auctions at Sothebys and Christies. A great find! « Less

Fabulous Limoges fish service comprised of 23 pieces: huge serving platter, 6 plates, 12 waste or bone dishes, a sauce boat & tray plus 2 serving plates. The serving plates are not part of the original set; but they complement the service so nicely your guests will never notice; they will simply be so impressed with how stunning this set is! Each piece, with the exception of the waste dishes, comprised of a combination of hand painted and transfer fishes. The plates each have a different fish in the center. The white ground with wide salmon colored edges and rimmed with generous thick gold. The platter, plates, waste and sauce boat with tray are all marked for Limoges A. Lanternier and include the artist's and gilder's initials. The serving plates are marked one for TV Limoges and the other for Limoges with artist's initials "MBL". And I have to say the MBL plate is completely adorable. see the 8th picture for a close up of the decoration on this plate. This is certainly the most comprehensive service I have seen. And it's gorgeous!
Condition: good to very good. there are two flaws. One of the waste dishes has a broken corner and one plate has a flake. A drop of gilt and the flake will be disappeared ;) But I leave that to my buyer to decide. Please see photos for dimensions and marks. « Less
