Nice bouillon cups and saucer, hand painted and signed by artist E.D. McCue. Soft shades of pink and green ground overlaid with sprays of poppy blossoms, buds and leafs. More »
Nice bouillon cups and saucer, hand painted and signed by artist E.D. McCue. Soft shades of pink and green ground overlaid with sprays of poppy blossoms, buds and leafs. Heavy gold encrusted handles with gilt accents on shaped saucer and soup cup base. Condition is very good to excellent. Some minor wear/loss to the gilt as clearly shown in the photos. The piece is marked on the bottom of cup and saucer with 'Haviland France' in green underglaze. The artist's signature is on the saucer as shown in the photos. The underglaze marks on this set likely dates the piece to 1894-1931; it was used on blanks. The artist decorated the bouillon. « Less

Found among the items of a collector and museum curator of English porcelain, this very rare set of 12 Pratt plates. These plates date from the late 1800's and are in overall very good to excellent condition. There are 2 with famous English architectural structures and environs; 1. Church of the Holy Trinity and 2. the seat of the Duke of Wellington. There are 4 with classical ruins and 6 with pastoral themes. Each is marked as shown in the first and last picture. I find no crazing, hazing, chips or flakes, chips, cracks. There is some minor loss to one small area of the rim of one plate (that is color loss). And several of the plates have some minor loss to the banded color areas of the plates. One of the plates has a significant loss; please see photo number 8.
Dimensions: the plates are 8 5/8" in diameter. « Less

These are absolutely pristine and utterly elegant plates. On a white ground, the plates are edged with cobalt blue enamel and decorated with lots of gold trims. In the center of each plate is a chevalier's, or knight's,armorial crest with the legend "Sans Criante". Sans Criante translates as 'without fear' or fearlessly. Each plate bears the mark of G. Boutigny & Cie., Palais Royal, Paris. Catering only to the elite, G. Boutigny & Cie operated on commission and decorated porcelain with armorials, crowns, crests, and coats of arms for society's elite. Here are 6 such plates. Measuring 9 5/8" diameter; I would consider these luncheon of salad size. Certainly they are as large as some dinner plates, of course. Condition is pristine. The bold pure design of these plates, with scalloped edges, makes them very distinctive. These plates are fabulous! « Less

Terrific little Austrian demi-tasse cup & saucer, richly gilt and signed by the artist. A deep red, almost a maroon, enamel overlays the white ground. The edges of the saucer More »
Terrific little Austrian demi-tasse cup & saucer, richly gilt and signed by the artist. A deep red, almost a maroon, enamel overlays the white ground. The edges of the saucer are gilt, and there is a fine gold decoration encircling the saucer with four gilt foliate motif designs. the cup has a cartouche, rimmed with two types of gold border, surrounding a pastoral romantic scene. The figural group, in situ, is a mixture of transfer and hand painting; it is this where we find the signature. It looks like "Forsh" to me; but I am terrible at this sort of thing. The rim of the cup is gilt, the handle absolutely smothered in gold, and inside the cup is a large gilt band. Condition is very good. The gild work is nearly perfect. A tiny loss, shown on the 7th picture. Also shown on picture 7 is a tiny loss of enamel. There are no chips, hairlines, hazing, crazing, breaks, etc. Both cup and saucer are marked with a beehive mark associated with Haas & Czjzek, active 1918-1945; and "Made in Austria".
Dimensions: The saucer is 4.5" diameter, 0.5" high. The cups is 2" tall, 2.75" long and 2" diameter at the top. « Less

Beautiful, like new set of 8 dessert or luncheon plates hand painted and signed by E. Phillips. On a white ground, with a 3/4" band of deep cobalt blue, the scalloped edges More »
Beautiful, like new set of 8 dessert or luncheon plates hand painted and signed by E. Phillips. On a white ground, with a 3/4" band of deep cobalt blue, the scalloped edges are gilt. In the center is a wonderful floral bouquet ringed by an intertwined wreath of gilt and enamelled foliage (today, we would think of DNA!) And between the cobalt band and the wreath are foliate and fruited swags. Sumptuously designed and painted by one of Royal Worcester's principle figures in the early 1900's. These plates were made for Caldwell Company of Philadelphia. The condition is absolutely pristine; no flaws or signs of use. The plates must have been lovingly kept out of harms way. Please note: originally there were 12 of these plates. 1 broke and 3 sold separately; so there are 8 left, which will be sold as a set. « Less

Signed by artist Vobornik, this large charger or serving dish is gaily decorated on white ground with deep pink blossoms, leafy fronds and buds. The border is heavily gilt and the gilding also applied to outline petals and leafs. Condition is very good to excellent. I have not polished the gold, so the are some small rub marks and a very tiny scratch or two. The plate has several marks; the Limoges mark for Charles Ahrenfeldt and the Picard mark. This one is stunning; perfect for display or careful use. Imagine serving a luscious dessert of home-made cookies or petite-fours on this charger! « Less
