Forbes Whiteside acrylic on tin abstract painting c1965. American born in 1918. One of his works titled "SpaceWalk" is in permanent collection of The Cleveland Museum of Art. This piece titled "Earth Icon" was shown at The Cleveland Museum of Art at the 8th May show April 20th through May 22 in 1966 . This abstract painting is in its original frame which measures 25 x 29 inches. The original exhibition sticker is on the reverse. The painting measures 18 by 22 inches.   « Less

Fine, American Aesthetic Movement wall plaque in gilt gesso. This large handsome piece of hi-style Victorian art features a heron, standing on one leg among a tuft of reeds in which a dragonfly hovers. This piece is three dimensional, deeply cast in plaster which has been gilded. The plaque retains it's original frame and dark wine colored velvet insert. Both the frame and the plaque have some minor losses of gilding commensurate with age. There has been some minor touch up to the frame but not on the plaque itself. 30"x 12" framed, the plaque is 25" x 7 ".   « Less

19th Century, hand-carved family scene in sand stone set in a Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian shadow box frame. This unique piece of fine, original art, is dated 1873 on the man's belt and is a richly detailed family scene, set out of doors on a balcony. It portrays in vivid, three dimensional detail, a man, woman, child and a sleeping dog. There is a wheel barrow full of fruit and a leafy carved arbor. It is difficult to describe the attention to detail in this charming family portrait. The mother's dress has lacey sleeves and her hair is done in an elaborate bun... she is wearing earrings and the child a cross. The man is handing the child something, his legs are crossed and one hand is inside his belt. There are architectural details and a woven basket in the corner. On the reverse is a red seal that I believe is in German and the family name is in hand written script. There is also a label from the Philadelphia gallery where it was framed. Fine original condition. 18 " tall x 16" wide over-all, art work is 11" X 9".   « Less
