Here is a unique early 19th century Chinese Export Chinoisere Lacquer Box. I believe these are "The Three Kings of Orient" circa 1830 with entourage of attendants, a lamp bearer and fine horse under a monlit sky. Excellent artistry, and box is in super fine condition owith brilliant details.. Button lock works, hinges fine, just about mint except for the most minor of surface wear. Wonderful underglaze copper red and blue extremely massive vase of a fierce dragon chasing a flaming pearl, with a splendid articulated five toed copper red and blue dragon applied in high bas relief. Twentieth centiruy, probably dates to 1960. This is a complex vase, with waves and carp on the bottom,a fabulous painted writhing dragon, and bas relief applied menacing open mouthed beast encircling all. I am unsure of the date of this vase, I have not seen anything to compare. Dimensions: Height 23"(58.50cm) Condition: Excellent, no damage.   « Less

Unusual and very rare REVERSE PAINTING ON MIRRORED GLASS, circa late 18th early 19th century, Chinese Export, of a delightful young Chinese child playing with a cricket. The painting, done on mirrored glass is an exceptional find not only in age and quality, but subject matter. Children were very rarely depicted in these period paintings, as the market was made to appeal to merchants and sailors visiting China on long journeys. The subject, a young boy with bound pigtails is richly dressed, charming and winsome. The soft colors of the portrait are pleasing to the eye. Perfect to blend with most decorating schemes. The original beaded wooden frame is hand chamfered and in good condition, measuring 12.5 " x 16.5 " The painting was purchased from a prominent old estate in California. Condition: Very good. I am pleased to offer a really outstanding pair of MIRROR IMAGE 18th Century KANGXI Blue and White covered baluster jars . The workmanship and caliber of the porcelain is very fine, as is the underglaze cobalt blue, and lighter royal blue painting and the glossy overglaze. The jars vary in size, one slightly heavier and taller. Differences in the knop finial, as shown, but well matched and beautifully painted details of birds, bats flowers and foliage. The covered jars bear the KANGXI double circle on the bases. An exceptional find from a respected British antiques dealer. I believe these jars to be of the period. Dimensions: 7"(17.50cm) Height 4"(10cm) Width 3"(7.50cm) Base Condition: Very fine. A few small frits, and one very small rim chip. There are no hairlines or restorations.   « Less
