circa: 1890 width: 62 height: 91 length: 24 This exquisite antique oak sideboard was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1890. Clearly fashioned by a master craftsman, the carvings show a remarkable level of detail and include several familiar motifs. Among these are the four cherubs (or puttos, as they are sometimes called), a man and woman, the lion heads at the corners and on the doors, and the lion occupying the center of the crest. Combined with the decorative patterns carved on nearly every surface of this sideboard, these striking visual themes come together to create a piece so beautiful that it certainly merits praise as a work of art. One could easily imagine that the carver(s) responsible for the intense detail in this sideboard regarded their work as the pinnacle of their craft. This sideboard of course places aesthetic pleasure alongside function, and with a large drawer, a locking lower cabinet, a large counter, and two tiers, this sideboard certainly is functional. The drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, and the shaped bracket feet remain as sturdy as they are elegant--as does the piece in its entirety. The top still mounts the base with relative ease: while it is quite heavy, it sits into several slots carved into the base, and then screws securely together. However, this sideboard has sustained a normal assortment of wear and minor damage, although all cases of this are minor. One of the cherubs, for instance, has been repaired, and the panels on the backsplash have developed separations in the wood, as have the two tiers. The also counter shows a variety of minor stains and wear marks, and several areas show signs of inactive woodworm that was treated decades ago. However, this is only to be expected of a piece of this age, and it is a wonder and a testament to the quality of this sideboard that it remains in such fantastic condition today. « Less

circa: 1800 width: 49.5 height: 60 length: 23 This exquisitely carved antique server was crafted in Georgian England around the year 1800. For the succeeding centuries, this piece underwent an interesting and varied series of alterations that have resulted in a palpable tapestry of historical craftsmanship. To begin with, the frame and many sections of this server were probably made during the 18th century, while some repairs were made around 1800. The columns, for instance, appear to have once been part of another piece, as they have marks where a stretcher once would have joined them. Meanwhile, the counter, the pulls, and all but the fronts of the drawers were replaced later during the Victorian period, closer to the close of the 19th century. The backsplash, which itself bears visible signs of wear and repair, also appears to have been added at this time; a view of the back of the piece reveals the striking difference between the wood used in the upper and lower parts of the piece. The result of over two centuries of modifications have thus produced a remarkably beautiful carved oak server that remains as sturdy as it is elegant. While the server does show a variety of superficial wear marks, these are only normal in a piece of this age and background, and in fact they contribute to the unique and charming character of this server. Overall condition therefore remains very good. « Less

circa: 1910 width: 71.5 height: 42 length: 25.5 This gorgeous antique English mahogany sideboard was crafted during the Edwardian period, around 1910. The combination of cathedral and flame mahogany with satinwood inlays is quite striking, particularly because the wood has developed a rich patina over the years. The original brass pulls also contrast beautifully with the mahogany and satinwood, while the bowfront ends are rather elegant. Each cabinet locks with an accompanying set of keys, and in addition to five drawers, they provide plenty of storage space. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, indicating fine quality, while the shaped apron, square tapered legs, and spade feet produce a rich style that is sure to look great in any setting. Although this Edwardian sideboard remains very sturdy and in great overall condition, it has sustained some surface wear, which you can see in the pictures that accompany this listing. Included in the wear are a variety of scuffs and indentations as well as some wear to the finish and an on one of the sides within the gap in the center of the sideboard. « Less

circa: 1910 width: 86 height: 35 length: 22 This gorgeous mahogany sideboard was handmade in England around 1910, during the Edwardian period. Over a century of aging, the mahogany has developed an incredibly rich patina that enhances the deep, lustrous complexion and the pronounced grain of the wood. The result is an exquisitely beautiful sideboard that would make a fine addition to any collection. With classic Edwardian style satinwood string inlays, the mahogany looks even more striking, while solid brass pulls also provide a lovely contrast with the wood. A single key accompanies this sideboard and locks all but the leftmost cabinet, while the single drawer features hand-cut dovetails. This sideboard has sustained some superficial wear, mostly in the form of numerous small scuffs and stains (see pictures), but structurally this sideboard remains as sturdy as ever, so overall condition is very good for a piece of this age. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 54 height: 31 length: 25 This antique demi-lune sideboard was handmade in Victorian England around 1890. Today, the mahogany displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a pronounced grain, both of which benefit from the development of a rich patina. Brass hardware and carved adornments complement the mahogany beautifully, while a protective glass pane rests on the counter, and brass casters provide convenient movement. The single drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, as most fine Victorian furniture did. Although this sideboard remains as sturdy as ever, it has sustained a variety of minor scuffs, particularly along the counter and on the legs. Overall condition therefore remains very good. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 66 height: 37 length: 28 This beautiful mahogany sideboard was originally crafted in England during the late Victorian period, around 1890. The mahogany has aged very well over the years and now reveals a light patina and very subtle grain. The color of the mahogany is complimented by narrow bandings of inlaid satinwood, as well as crossbanded darker mahogany borders. The satinwood can also be found in the form of leaf shaped inlays on the cabinets and lower drawer. Because the wood is such a neutral color, it should go well with almost any other wood in your home! However, the best thing about this sideboard is its unusual shape. This style is very difficult to find, making them quite rare and valuable in comparison to more traditional sideboards. Also, the unique shape allows this sideboard to fit into corners quite nicely, which is what they were designed for.The drawers of this sideboard feature hand-cut dovetailed joints as well as solid brass pulls. The brass pulls are quite nice and have a small lion''s head at the center. The cabinets are quite spacious, and though they have locks there is no key. Overall, the condition of this piece is good. It does have the few the expected scratches and dings, but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance. This piece is quite a nice find and should make a lovely addition to any home. Don''t miss your opportunity to bid on this Victorian period sideboard today! « Less

circa: 1901 width: 63 height: 34 length: 20 This gorgeous mahogany antique sideboard was hand-crafted in Edwardian England around 1900 and recently restored by a team of master craftsmen before being shipped to our antique furniture showroom in Atlanta, GA, USA. The flame mahogany, having developed a lovely patina over the years, displays a fine, rich grain and deep lustre, which are complemented by rosewood banding and solid-brass hardware. The serpentine design looks quite elegant, as do the shaped skirt and the square-tapered legs, which end in stylish spade feet. With a single drawer and two cabinets, one of which contains a shelf, this Edwardian antique sideboard offers plenty of storage space and would look fantastic in just about any setting. Although this sideboard owes much of its beauty to Edwardian craftsmen and recent restorers, it has sustained some crackling around the crossbanding and a scratch on the top. There are also some stains on the cabinet doors. Otherwise, this Edwardian antique sideboard is in excellent condition and retains its century-old structural integrity. Whether you are looking for a fine decorative antique or a functional sideboard to provide extra storage, this Edwardian sideboard would be perfect for you! « Less

circa: 1920 width: 54 height: 37 length: 20 This serpentine mahogany antique sideboard was hand-crafted in England around 1920 and recently imported to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta, GA, USA. The mahogany, which has developed a lovely patina over the years, displays a rich complexion and wonderful grain, particularly on the face, where flame mahogany was used. Other distinctive aesthetic features include solid brass hardware, fluted edges, a crossbanded apron, square-tapered legs and spade feet. Each drawer features dovetailed joints, while this mahogany antique sideboard remains as sturdy as ever. However, the original key to the cabinets and drawers has been lost, and there is a bit of wear, particularly on one of the feet, the lower drawer has developed some bubbling, and there is a small split in the apron. Overall, the condition of this mahogany antique sideboard is very good. « Less

circa: 1930 width: 66 height: 41 length: 21 This beautiful antique mahogany Chippendale style sideboard was hand-crafted in England around 1930. The wood looks very nice, with a rich grain and pleasant, medium mahogany color. There are two spacious cabinets each with shelves and one drawer with green felt lining. The legs of this sideboard are square and tapered, and are very stable and wobble-free. Overall, the condition of this sideboard is very good. Thanks to the genius of Thomas Chippendale which this antique was inspired by this sideboard has a beautifully simple construction and yet striking appearance juxtaposing both intricately carved skirts under the cabinets with straight forward designs like the mahogany backsplash leaving this piece a perfect blend of elegance and simplicity. There is a crack on the front right side and some scratches on the top. Both of these areas are barely noticeable, and this Chippendale style sideboard should make a lovely addition to any home! « Less
