The most over-used word in the antique lighting trade is the word "rare". It is so over used for common things that when an authentic rare item comes along, the word tends to lose its punch. Since it is not in any catalog or reference book that we have in our library, it needs to be attributed by the elements of its design & construction. We, probably better than most, are most able to do this.
This Lincoln chandelier we believe, is a presentation piece. It was probably given to outstanding dealers or wholesalers as a reward for achievement of great sales. Of course, it might also have been given to retiring executives of the company sort of like the gold watch reward. Like the quality of engraved Winchester rifles, it has an amount of detail very much above the norm for a production piece.
We believe it was made by Lincoln Manufacturing who were ONE of the biggest makers of slip shade lighting in America and even sold to Sears. We "know" Lincoln design and castings quite well having handled hundreds of their various products.
Attributes we recognize different from Virden or Markel or Acme or Frankenlite or Halcolite or Globe:
1: The fixture is aluminum...Lincoln Mnf was a aluminum foundry rather than cast iron or cast zinc, or even cast bronze.
2: The design motifs and shade holding panels are similar, mechanically, to Lincoln designs such as the Fleur-de-lis.
3: The color and reliefs are similar to Lincoln designs and you can almost feel the elements from their head designer in this piece. It does go that extra mile for great design.
4: Each casting is marked with a part number. Lincoln did this exclusively and other manufacturers did this VERY seldom.
5: Only Lincoln made two other lights where the shade could be used bulb side up..or..down.
The shades are just so fantastic. Heavy custard glass with deep reliefs. Can be used two ways depending on preferences. VERY minor roughness in keeping with the fixture's age. Simply "wow" pieces of glass by themselves.
Measurements & Wiring: Totally re-wired with new sockets and wire. Ready to hang and we will supply all the necessary parts to do so easily. It is 31" tall. That large stem decoration really adds to the height. If a longer drop (height) is desired, we can add a bit of extra chain. It has an 18" diameter. If you need a shorter chandelier, it can be shortened to 24" by removing the stem decoration and some chain links.
$3,200.00 plus shipping. An excellent price for this RARE slip shade presentation chandelier attributed to Lincoln Mnf., Circa 1935. « Less

Nice original 1930`s French Art Deco chandelier complete with original shades and nickel finished metal frame. Very nice condition with a significant lighting ability. We would call this Streamline Art Deco.
This fixture demonstrates an interesting design concept. This is where the center shade is mounted to each of the four arms, treating them like the fitter for this main centered shade. Works and is more unusual than most.
Electrical: The fixture has been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Each of the four outside shades has a candelabrum type socket for candelabrum bulbs. The center large shade has a three light cluster that accepts normal medium based bulbs. If you used normal maximum bulbs in each chandelier socket, you could have a total of 540 watts of lighting. This assumes a 60 watt bulb in each candelabrum socket and 3 bulbs of 100 watts in the center shade. Many folks would use less wattage.
This fine chandelier has been modified in three ways from the French original. Its sockets were changed from European to American. It was re-wired with UL approved wiring. It now mounts with American style mounting hardware to an American electrical box.
All in all, a very nice French Streamline Deco chandelier ready to hang.

Pair of wrought iron chandeliers from turn-of-the-century...Circa 1920 or so. Hard to date accurately but the quality and the original cloth wiring helped us.
Heavy and well made. We have restored the lanterns completely with new sockets and wiring, to UL standards, and they are ready to hang. If you would rather have clear glass instead of the amber shown, we can treat the amber color to bleach it out but the present amber is so very striking.
All the glass is near mint condition.
Measurements: A grand 36" diameter with a length of 35" tall. Height can be adjusted by adding or subtracting chain links. Unusual in that each chandelier has 7 lights instead of the normal 5 or 6.
Nice large ceiling canopy to disguise a difficult mounting option. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
$3,300 for the pair, plus shipping. « Less

Art Deco slip shade chandelier by Virden. Five 100 watt bulbs and shades make this a striking example. Circa 1935.
Reddish bronze finish while the fixture itself was created by a mixture of metals all blended by the finish. Very nice indeed.
The amber embossed shades are really quite nice as the detailed pictures show. Each of the five sockets is capable of accepting a 100 watt incandescent light bulb or order our LED bulbs for the complete solution.
Completely re-wired in our UL approved shop, they are ready to hang immediately upon arrival.

A very neat shell motif British theater chandelier from England. This chandelier, and sconces that match it, are often called "Odeon Lights" since one of the a main movie house chains in Britain, named all their theaters "Odeon". In fact..."Odeon" is sometimes a synonymous term for a movie theater. i.e "go to the Odeon".
This chandelier was used with frosted, amber and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more.We have rewired this chandelier to UL American standards with a new American center socket cluster for three bulbs.
One bulb lights each shade so 300 watts can be achieved with this chandelier if you use 100 watt bulbs. With its standard socket, you can also use "spiral" CF bulbs, or our LED bulbs for great energy savings. The chandelier is ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit which we will supply.
Measures: 18" tall to the bottom of the finial with a width of 14 1/2". Price: $ 650.00 for the chandelier complete with the amber shades shown, plus shipping charges. We have a matching pair of sconces that came with this chandelier for sale on another listing if you are thinking about a suite. « Less
