circa: 1900 width: 72 height: 43 length: 23.5 This antique quartersawn oak sideboard was crafted in Edwardian England by Maple & Company around 1900. Today, the oak retains a deep, lustrous complexion and a striking grain, both of which have grown more beautiful over the years with the development of a lovely patina. Brass hardware, distinctive paneling and detailed carvings complement the wood beautifully, producing a gorgeous sideboard that will look great in any setting. Both the back and the sides feature high-quality paneling, while all drawers feature hand-cut dovetailed joints. The two interior drawers are felt-lined, while the one on the left has sustained some damage to the felt lining. All of the cabinet doors also lock with an accompanying set of keys. This sideboard is incredibly sturdy, although it has sustained some minor wear, including a few scuffs in the surfaces of the wood as well as a superficial separation in the counter. Also, all of the teardrop pulls that originally would have been attached to the cabinet doors have been removed, leave only the mounts to which they were once attached; the mounts are still easily turned, so the doors open with ease as they always have. Overall condition therefore remains very good. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 72 height: 36.5 length: 25 This flame mahogany bow front sideboard was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1890. Recently, the sideboard underwent a light restoration, which involved the addition of a new French polish with a final coating of hand-rubbed wax. The result is a remarkably beautiful sideboard that displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a striking grain that have grown more beautiful over the years with the development of a lovely patina. The mahogany crossbanding along the top and the solid brass pulls, which are original to the sideboard, also contrast beautifully with the flame mahogany, while the bow front shape itself is quite elegant. The tambor cabinet completes the incredibly stylish appearance of this sideboard for a timeless look that looks fantastic in any setting. With a total of four drawers and a cabinet, this sideboard contains a great deal of useful storage space. One of the drawers is a double thickness, allowing storage of larger items, while the central drawer is felt-lined and divided for silverware. Each drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, which was a high-quality standard during the Victorian period. The square tapered legs remain as sturdy as they are elegant. This sideboard has, however, sustained some light wear, mostly in the form of minor imperfections in the wood that have developed in the drawer fronts and banding, but also as superficial separations in the wood on each of the sides. This kind of separation represents a natural stage in the aging process, so it appears in all antiques, and it does not affect structural integrity. Overall condition therefore remains excellent for a sideboard of this age. « Less
