This fine early 20th century Mission style mantel is made of oak, which has been stripped to display a gorgeous natural grain. It has a unique design to it, as the mantelpiece comes out to shelf from two coved sides. It has classic craftsman details such as exposed tenons and joints, delicately arched pilasters that create shelves on either side. The screen is made all of a fantastic tooled/worked leather with the image of a Galleon ship over the waves. The leather is all hand worked and is just an extraordinary piece to admire. A great addition to your collection and a great conversational piece!!! CONDITION: Very good shape for age and use, normal wear to frame and leather. Vermont Victorian oak fireplace mantelpiece and overmantel. Circa 1880-1900. Size: 60 inches width x 90 5/8 inches height x 12 inches depth. This ornate fireplace with mirror back was removed from a Victorian residence in Rutland, Vermont. It is entirely original and includes the mantelpiece with carved floral corner spandrels and transom, which features a 36 inches height x 41 inches fireplace opening. Also included are the 16 original 6 inches square blue floral ceramic tiles that form the fireplace surround. Supported by the mantelpiece is an elaborate mirrored overmantel with 5 beveled mirror glass panels and delicate, pierced lattice trim, which is in turn supported by finely turned pillars. Condition: minor scuffing, some smoke residue to underside of mantel and minor seam separation to mantel support boards at base. Could use a good cleaning and polishing. As found condition with no breaks.   « Less

This is an amazing antique Neoclassical figural cast iron fireplace cover and surround, dating from the late 1800’s. It features the Greek goddess Diana (also known as Artemis) drawing an arrow from her quiver, hunting a stag; both Diana and the stag are surrounded by foliate and floral detail. The scene has an oval border with volutes and laurel leaves in the corners and an anthemion on either side. The surround is draped with bellflower garlands, with ribbons on each corner and a palmette in the center. This set is in very good antique condition, with some rust. The overall height of the piece, including the surround, is 30 ¼”, the overall width is 24 ½”, and the overall depth is approx. 1 5/8”. Item #: NSC9-RW   « Less
