This is a magnificent antique cast iron arched fireplace cover, dating from the early 1900’s. It features a large circular design in the center, surrounded by a variety of intricately cast abstract patterns. The cover is bordered by an abstract pattern reminiscent of vines and leaves. This is a handsome antique slate mantel, dating from the 1880’s, in its original faux finish. The mantel begins with a beveled shelf resting on two baluster columns, which are square at the top and bottom. The column tops feature a simple carved volute design surrounded by a bold black border. Between the columns, the mantel features a geometric design, formed of substantial black scallops in the center, flanked by a carved geometric design ending on each side in volutes and a black square. The mantel has a chocolate and cream colored faux marble finish. This mantel is in excellent condition. It measures 46” tall, 59 ½” wide, and 14” deep; the firebox opening is 36 ¾” wide and 35 ¼” tall. The mantel disassembles for shipping. Item #: NFPM9-RW   « Less

This is a fabulous antique figural cast iron summer cover, dating from the 1890’s. The center of the cover features a woman’s head in profile, surrounded by a sunburst. Above the sunburst is a crest or shield, flanked by a beautifully cast pair of dragons. The dragons’ bodies blend into intricate foliate detail, which comes down the sides of the sunburst. The scene is surrounded by an understated rectangular border, followed by a gorgeous foliate and floral design with volutes. The handle of the summer cover is formed in the shape of a shell; the ribbed pattern of the handle echoes the design of the sunburst. This is a remarkable set of antique hand-forged iron andirons, dating from the 1800’s. These beautifully crafted andirons are hand-forged and hand-riveted, and come with a poker and a small iron kettle. One andiron has a swinging bracket, which supports the pot. Each andiron begins with a band arched and hammered to form two feet. Fastened to the main post just above the feet is a riveted appliqué, used to hold the poker. The sturdy, squared body of the andiron rises from the feet and angles inward into a round pole. The pole is encircled by two grooved bands, which support the swinging bracket on one of the andirons. The pole is capped with a crown-like ornament composed of four hammered, scalloped bands riveted to a ring. These andirons are in excellent condition and have a beautifully aged patina. The poker is also in excellent condition, and the pot is in very good antique condition, with some rust and other indications of age. The andirons measure tall and 13 ½” wide, and the log supports extend 23 ¼”. The poker is 42” long, and the pot is approximately 7” in diameter.   « Less

This is a fabulous antique Queen Anne style pine mantel, dating from the 1890’s. It is crowned with an arched top, which is carved with a stylized foliate motif, and has a small shelf just below the arch, surrounded by a stick-and-ball railing. The shelf is followed by a scalloped border, which extends to a gracefully curved bracket on either side. Outside each bracket is a piece carved with a fan-shaped, fern-like design, curving down to the second shelf. The second shelf has a lovely beveled edge, and is supported by two pairs of balusters, which flank the beautifully aged beveled mirror. Each pair of balusters frames a beautiful leaf-shaped carved design and rests on the main shelf, connected to the last shelf by a fabulous pair of small turned spindles. The final shelf, a small ledge extending just above the firebox opening, is surrounded by a stick-and-ball railing, which angles inward at the front and is accented by two small ball finials. The ledge is supported beneath by a wonderful pair of turned posts. The firebox and the sides of the mantel feature lovely chamfered edges. This mantel is in excellent condition; it has been stripped and is ready to accept a finish. It measures approximately 90” tall, 48 5/8” wide, and 9” deep, and has a firebox opening 33” wide and 34 ¾” tall. Item #: NFPM6-RW   « Less

This is a wonderful antique Neoclassical figural cast iron fireplace cover, circa 1890. This beautifully cast summer cover displays a man with rays of light emanating from around his head possibly Prometheus, who in Greek mythology stole fire from the gods and brought it to mankind holding aloft a flaming torch. He is standing atop an intricately cast urn filled with roses, and a small cherub looks down at him from above, while a second cherubic figure stands next to the urn. The entire scene is bordered by an elegant design of foliate volutes, followed by a rectangular bead-and-reel border. This summer cover is in excellent condition, and it measures 25 tall and 19 7/8 wide. This is a fabulous set of antique hand-forged iron andirons, dating from the mid 1800’s. These superbly crafted andirons are hand-forged and hand-riveted, and have swinging brackets. Each andiron begins with three curled feet, riveted to the body and curling back out to accent the base of the andiron. Each body twists upward to meet its splendid swinging bracket, supported by a graceful volute and ending in a hook. Above the bracket, the body ends in a magnificent volute. These andirons are in very good antique condition and have a great patina. One andiron is missing a small vertical piece on the log support (see pictures), but it is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the piece. They measure 32” tall and 12” wide (21 5/8” wide with the brackets extended toward the center), and the log supports extend 24”.   « Less

This is a beautiful antique Neoclassical solid walnut mantel, dating from the 1880 s. It begins at the top with a beautifully beveled shelf, supported on each side by an intricately carved bracket featuring a detailed foliate design on both the front and the outer side. Each bracket rests on a balustrade-style column. Between the two brackets is a magnificent carved garland with floret detail, flanked by floral rosettes. A bead-and-reel pattern underlines the garland and rosettes. This mantel is in excellent condition; it has been stripped and is ready to accept a finish. It measures 47 tall, 48 wide, is 11 5/8 deep, and has a firebox opening 29 5/8 wide and 35 tall. This is a fabulous antique heart of pine mantel, dating from the 1870’s Aesthetic Movement, which retains its original gorgeous faux-grained finish. The mantel begins with a gracefully curved top, featuring three scallops in the center that are ornamented with subtle volute outlines. A shelf, supported at the sides with beautifully cut-out curved pieces meeting turned spindles, overhangs the beveled mirror. The mirror is flanked by rectangular panels, six on each side. Below the mirror is another shelf, above which are three beautifully grained panels. The shelf is held up by carved brackets, which extend down the mantel to a shelf just above the opening. The shelf extends in a quarter circle on the outside of each bracket, and the brackets continue on to the floor. The quarter-circle shelves are repeated near the base of the mantel. The mantel is in excellent condition, and the finish is also in excellent condition with a few minor stain rings on the shelf. It measures 86” tall, 68 ½” wide, is 9 ¼” deep, and has a firebox opening 42” wide and 30 ½” tall. Item #: NFPM3-RW   « Less
