Just as the figures in ancient mythology were the symbols of spiritual and physical perfection, so too are the characters in the painting “Jardin Erotic III”. Connected by their bodies and minds, they are wrapped by insect forms, as if the creatures were part of their own flesh. The middle figure holds sasima spinosa, an impressive insect from New Guinea that camouflages as a leaf, while at the same time an Australian papilio aegus perches atop the fingers of the other figure.
