A very unusual and rare inkstand in ormolu representing an armillary sphere opening in two parts, and revealing interior compartments, standing on a circular pedestal base. This inkwell has its original ormolu and is from the neo-classic period. Probably made by the Russian manufacture of Tula. A similar inkwell is in the Hermitage museum. A Paris porcelain inkwell in the style of Jacob Petit, composed of two parties. The bottom five feet resting on shaped scrolls, has two wells for ink and sand, and in the front shell-shaped bowl. The upper lid is carved with a dog in a sitting position. The choice of several colors of enamel, reminiscent of the shimmering polychromy of Jacob Petit's porcelain, with the mixture of rococo and wildlife. Louis-Philippe Period, Circa: 1840. A Louis XV style black and gilt lacquered inkstand decorated with a bird and surrounded with a giltbronze rococo mount. The two prcelain pots with their cover are dated from the eighteen century and were later associated with the Napoléon III stand. The porcelain are marked by Sevres underneath and are nicely ornate with medallion of flower decor and a green and gilt background. Napoléon III Period, Circa: 1860. Dim: W: 17,3 in - D: 12,6in - H: 3,5in. / Un très bel écritoire de style Louis XV avec un plateau mouvementé à décor de laque noir et or dans le goût de la Chine avec une belle monture en bronze doré rocaille à volutes feuillagées. Sur le plateau deux pots avec leur couvercle en porcelaine de Sèvres à décor de fleurs et rehaussés d’or fin. Les porcelaines sont marquées sous la base en brun et datent du milieu du 18° Siècle. Elles ont été remontées sur l’écritoire à l’époque Napoléon III. Vous pouvez noter une légère fissure et petites restaurations sur le plateau . Les porcelaines sont en parfait état. Gilt bronze inkstand, resting on a rectangular base with four feet. The central theme is a standing putto holding two horned using as jar. The archives and their inventories are sources of information attesting to the importance of the role and of the position held by the writing cases and the ink : they are symbols of wealth, power and knowledge through the use of writing. As long as their use was unavoidable, they were used as gifts on many occasions. Many were received from the greatest of this world : kings and queens, emperors and empresses, princes and nobles ... As time goes by, from the extension to the acquisition of the writing knowledge, the inkstand, tool remaining simple and foremost usual, was overtaken by the art and some of them obtained the status of works of art and recognized as masterpieces. Le sujet central est un putto debout se tenant sur deux cornes servant de godets. Les archives et leurs inventaires sont autant de sources d'informations témoignant de l'importance du rôle et de la place qu'ont tenu les écritoires et encriers, symboles de richesse, de puissance et de savoir à travers l'usage de l'écriture. Tant que leur usage fut incontournable, ils servirent de cadeaux offerts en de multiples occasions. D'aucuns reçus par des grands de ce monde, rois et reines, empereurs et impératrices, princes et nobles... Au fil du temps, de l'extension à l'acquisition du savoir écrire, l'encrier, cet outil au demeurant simple et avant tout usuel, fut rattrapé par l'art et certains accédèrent au statut d'oeuvres d'art et reconnus pour être des chefs d'oeuvres.
