Description: Here it is, the ultimate in dining style, suitable for feats, banquets, power lunches and sumptuous dinner parties. The table is long (overall lenght is 97") and hence can fit 8 people more than comfortably making it the ultimate table for home entertaining and dinner parties. If, like me, you are a frustrated writer, this would also be a great table for laying out chapters so you can see where you are - this is the first thing I thought of when I bought this table and was tempted to keep it for myself solely for this purpose. The table has splay feet with brass paw feet casters. The legs have been hand carved and feature fluting and acanthus leaf designs. It is made from the finest flame mahogany and this piece has just come back from the restorers where it had a repolish bringing out the lovely nutty red veneer cherished by this type of wood - there are no scratches, marks or other blemishes. It is also structurally in perfect condition and hence is ready for home use right away. If you want to make it smaller you can take the leaf out and it reduces in size As it's on castors it's easy to move around and obviously you can take out the centre part of the table to make it smaller as it works on a leaf system. For those of you looking to create that snug, cosy rustic farmhouse look then this really is the piece de resistance. This is a lovely set of eight French Country oak ladderback chairs with rush seats. They came from the Normandy area of France. The chairs have ladderbacks with a shaped crest. The legs are gracefully curved with turned feet. They have stretchers from the front to the back. The color is a rich dark brown oak with a warm patina. They were recently polished and waxed in our workshops and are ready to go into your home. The rush seats are shaped and the backs are slightly slanted, making the chairs very comfortable. They are very solid and sound. Then of course we have the table which extends via the leaf system - so you can expand this for bigger dinner parties and make it smaller to suit your needs. That's the great thing, it's so flexible. We bought the table from a dealer in Avranches, France and it's unusual to find such a lovely set. The legs are hand turned and very chunky linking the stretchers to the bottom. The apron to the table has refrectory style hand carved sections perhaps better illustrated by the close up photos. The table extends so you can make more space with it when required for dinner parties and the like. The table is offered in very good condition and sits eight chairs when unextended.
