Fine Art Nouveau desk set. This hi-style three piece desk set is made of very heavy cast brass and features a pen tray, ink blotter and hinged, three section stamp box. All three pieces have an elegant Art Nouveau design with the pen tray and stamp box having distinctively turned up corners. All three pieces are in fine original condition with no damage or repairs and a nice patina . Un-marked except for numbers on the bottom of the tray and box. Tray is 8 1/4" wide x 3" deep, blotter is 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" tall, stamp box is 4" x 2 1/2". Price 325. for the set.   « Less

Rare, French, "Grand Tour" souvenir, Mother of Pearl, bronze, glass and brass inkwell in the form of a boat. Substantially sized, all clad in original, fine condition MOP, finished with a bronze railing and pen holder. Each end of the boat or gondola is also finished in bronze with a delicate flourish at each point. The glass and brass inkwell is not removable and has a domed and fluted hinged cover. Good original condition with waviness to the top rail. The hinge is in good working order but the lid sits slightly ajar. The pen is a good match but not original. Marked "Cherbourg" on the deck. Wood bottom. 7 1/2" wide x 3" tall x 2 3/4" deep.   « Less

Important gilt cast brass, coin silver, and cut glass platform ink well made by Jabez Gorham & Son ofProvidence, Rhode Island. Stamped J G & Son 109. Jabez Gorham was the founder of the Gorham Silver Company. This mark was used in 1841, when his son John joined the firm, until 1850. The inkwell features a silver full body stag atop the lid. The footed stand features gold plated scrollwork inset with 4 silver repousse panels depicting ducks, partridges, hares, and deer. Inkwell measures 6 and one half inches high by 3 and one half inches in diameter. Stand measures 12 inches square by 2 inches high. Antique French marquetry fruitwood lapdesk. This "lapdesk" is French c1875. Made from fruitwood with a truly beautiful marquetry design. This lap desk also has a hand painted floral center medallion with a brass ormolu frame. The interior is fitted and covered in rosewood veneer. There are two cut glass inkwells with their original brass covers. There are also two small drawers that can only be seen when the inside lid is opened. This fineFrench lap desk measures 13 and one half inches wide by 11 inches deep when closed and 17 and one half inches deep when open. There is some minor veneer missing inside and one of the brass trim pieces on the bottom front is missing which is hard to notice.   « Less
