Exceptional, vintage, marquetry inlaid wood, Swiss works, music box. I am not sure of the connection, but this fine cylinder music box, plays The Harry Lime Theme by the composer Anton Karas from the 1949 movie, "The Third Man", which re-united both the stars and director of "Citizen Kane". The marquetry is of an estate with a large and looming mansion in the distance which I thought might be the "Xanadu" of "Citizen Kane". In any case, this beautiful box is in "like new" original condition with fancy burl around the sides, small ebonized feet and original brass "piano" hinge. The musical works are marked "Lador" Switzerland. All original excellent working condition. 6" wide x 4" deep x 2 1/2" tall. « Less

Rare, 19th Century adjustable music stand in mahogany. This fine American Centennial sheet music stand is a beautiful example of the Classical/Federal Revival style that was so popular in the last quarter of the 19th century, featuring a tri-pod base with graceful legs, delicate paw feet and acanthus leaf carved knees. The sheet music holder which is fully adjustable from almost upright to deeply tilted, has curled acanthus leaf sides and a central lyre shaped splat. The mechanism on the back of the music holder is a decorative Victorian cast brass which is in perfect working condition. The height of the stand also has a large degree of adjustability, with a metal rod in the base that attaches to the brass on the back and is raised and lowered via a round ornamental ring of brass, also in excellent working condition. Very good original finish which we have cleaned and waxed and nice original patina on the brass. One old repair to the music holder which is much more obvious on the back than on the front and a couple of spots of old re-gluing. Over-all good condition and completely functional. 47" tall at the shortest, adjustable to 64 1/2" x 21 1/2 " base diameter, the music holder is 17 1/2" wide x 13 3/4" high. « Less

We are now offering this wonderful antique Columbia Phonograph Type Q Graphophone with a last patent date of 1897. The graphophone comes with the original wooden cover and horn. This piece was manufactured by the American Graphophone Co, New York, NY. The wooden cover is very nice and the grain looks great. The front of the cover has "Graphophone" written in beautiful black and gold letters on a gold ribbon-like design. Also written is "The Graphophone Patented May 4, 1886, Dec 27, 1887, April 3, 1888, June 10, 1890, Oct 15, 1894, March 20, 1897 Columbia Phonograph New York, London, Paris, Berlin." There is a very pretty floral accent on the bottom of the graphophone. The patent dates are also stamped into the graphophone. The horn is brass. There is a record included, which comes in a cardboard case. The case is very decorative, done in colors of cream with gold accents and red letters that read "Edison Record." There are several songs on the record, the first one being "Nearer My God to Thee." The cover does have some damage, the gears do not turn, and the needle is missing some parts needed to play a record. The graphophone measures 6 1/8" in height, 9 1/2" from side to side, and 6 1/4" from front to back. The cover is 7" in height, 10 3/8" from side to side, and 6 3/4" from front to back. The record cover is 4 1/2" in height, and 2 5/8" in diameter. The horn measures 13 3/4" in height, and 6 7/8 in diameter. Weight is 8 pounds. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested. And if you have any questions please contact us by email or telephone before you purchase the item. Please view our Terms of Sale and Shipping policy. We only ship to the continental U.S. We do have a retail store and there are times the item may be sold through our store.
