Extraordinary pair of antique bronze classical nude ladies, one holding a wine goblet with a bird on her wrist, the other has a butterfly on her arm. Both sculptures were made at the H. Gladenbeck & Sohn foundry in Berlin, Germany. The Gladenbeck foundry produced many of the finest quality bronze sculptures made in Europe in the 19th and very early 20th centuries. The two nudes we are offering have a beautiful patina and are in excellent condition. The faces details and bodies of these beautiful ladies are absolutely perfect. I doubt if a finer model has ever been sculptured by any artist. Their faces are so lifelike you can almost hear them breathing. They are both mounted on their original specimen marble bases. The lady with the butterfly is looking at it and wondering what happened to its other wing, it looks like it landed on her arm for safety. From any angle of view, these bronzes are absolutely beautiful. Extraordinary pair of antique silvered and gilt bronze gargoyle handled extremely ornate decorative Griffin ewers. The Griffins on the handle of the ewers are silvered with gilt bronze wings. They measure 9-3/8 inches from the base to the top of the wing. From the pouring spout to the tip of the griffin's wings they measure 7-1/4 inches across. They are set on a six sided marble base with a 3-1/2 inches diameter. The base is 3/4 inch high. The ewers are beautifully designed with high relief sculptured floral and wreath decorations. The front of each ewer has a high relief sculptured bearded man's face silvered and gilt. The Griffin's tails are wrapped tightly around the handles to secure their presence. This is an extraordinary, unique pair of French gilt bronze and silvered Griffin ewers the highest quality imaginable. This is an extremely lifelike and very realistic composition of Diana. Diana's robe is blowing in the wind, while her anxious dog leaps up looking for prey as Dianna hold her spear back preparing to throw it. The sculpture is mounted on its original pedestal style marble base. It measures 16 inches from the bottom of the base to the top of Diana's head. Exquisite gilt bronze sculpture of a beautiful nude lady symbolic of Diana running with her bow in hand. The sculpture shows wonderful understanding of the human anatomy and is very animated. She looks like she's running right off the base chasing her prey. This is a nice size sculpture with a height of 23-1/2 inches from the bottom of the base to the top of her bow. From her left hand to her right toe it measures 21 inches. The base has a height of 3-1/2 inches, a width of 8 inches, and a depth of 6 inches. The condition of this exquisite sculpture is mint. A Superb very rare model Defense du Sol by Adrien Etienne Guadez 1845-1902. The quality and composition of this bronze sculpture is among the finest made by this very important well listed 19th century French Sculptor. This magnificent sculpture is 30-1/2 inches tall and 13-1/2 inches wide. It is in superb condition. Gaudez studied with Jouffroy. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salons in 1864 winning medals including the first class medal in 1881. This was the one of the highest achievement imaginable at that time. He was recognized at an early age for his ability to create and capture the life like images of the subjects he sculptured. This is one of his finest works. His highest priced bronze at auction sold for $149,000. in New York at Christies a Turkish Pricess bust 30 inches tall the same size as this sculpture sold on May 2, 2001 for $149,000. Superb Antique Kauba Vienna Bronze Polychrome Indian with bow and arrow on galloping horse. The bronze is marked Geschutz on the base and on the horse's belly with numbers. The black and gold marble base in inscribed "Made in Austria." Kauba is well known and most famous for his Indian and Western as well as his Erotica Vienna bronze sculptures. Although Kauba never traveled to the Wild West, he was fascinated by the stories and pictures of the American Indians. He created many of the world's finest antique Vienna bronze polychromed Indian sculptures. The one we are offering is in mint condition with the exception of the base that has a little chip in the corner and an old repair mentioned for the sake of accuracy. The bronze itself is flawless. This bronze is an incredible composition, one of Kauba's best. The Indian and horse are extremely life-like and very animated. From the horse's tail tip to its nose, it measures a little over 1 foot. Height 6 inches. The base is 11 1/2 inches long by 5 inches wide. It is on its original black and gold marble base inscribed on the under side "Made in Austria."
