Rare antique continental silver snuff box with maker's mark of MK. It has other markings as well near the maker's mark. Please click enlargements to see details of the markings. The case is in very good condition and shows some traces of old gilding to the inside of the box. The bottom of the box also has the MK maker's mark and some other rubbed markings. Silver snuff boxes from the early 19th century are quite rare. This one is particularly nice because of the ornate, decorative engraving on the top, bottom and sides. The box has its original hinge, it opens easily and closes perfectly. Weight 84.3 grams. Length 3 inches. Width 1-3/4 inches. Height 5/8 inch. The top of the bottle has a silver putti standing on the cork. Along the bottom, the silver is decorated with figures and birds. The figures are a man and a woman, shown together with love birds decorating the bottom of the bottle. From the bottom to the top of the putti's head it measures 7-1/2 inches. Widest width 3-1/4 inches. Depth 2-3/4 inches. The bottle is in very good used condition and dates circa 1900. This is a rare and unusual silver and etched crystal bottle. Extraordinary antique French silver presentation centerpiece bowl. The bowl has the Minerva head marking and a makers mark with a clover and letter mark in a diamond shaped hallmark indicating this piece was made in France. The centerpiece has an inscription dated 1934. The centerpiece is beautifully decorated with 34 high relief sculptured puttos making floral wreaths and garlands. On the sides are 2 lion head handles with moveable rings. This an exquisite unique French silver centerpiece in excellent condition. It just needs a good polishing. Weight 42 troy ounces. When you lift the top off the box it has high relief sculptured cherubs sitting by a water bin. One looks like he has a live fish in his hand. It has a hinge lacking its pin. Your jeweler could put a pin in there if you wanted one. To open the box now you just lift off the top. This is the only one like this I have seen in my more than 45 years buying, selling, appraising, and collecting antiques.
