A remarkable pair of antique single-arm Spanish Revival sconces in their original polychrome finish, dating from the 1920’s. Each sconce features a backplate ornamented with a red flower at the top and a rope border throughout, finishing in a cluster of polychrome leaves and berries at the bottom. The sconce arm is in the shape of a stemmed flower with polychrome accents, and it supports a foliate bobeche with a laurel-leaf border. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. Fascinating antique two-arm Neoclassical sconce, dating from the early 1900s. This unique wall lamp reminds us of a violin with its shape and pronounced scrolling arms. The sconce is topped by a leaf-like crown, its slender neck tapering to a full lower body with ears and a centered floret button. Two scrolling iron arms begin at the top and attach near the bottom of the backplate with a flower rosette. Each sconce arm curls around to support a foliate bobeche. This sconce is in excellent condition with working switch; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all necessary attachments for modern installation. The fixture measures 8-1/4" wide, 11-3/8" tall, and projects 4-1/2" from the wall.   « Less

Antique pair of charming single-arm floral sconces with their original polychrome finish, salvaged out of Roanoke, VA, and dating from the 1920s. These cream-colored oval wall lamps feature a webbing design radiating from the center, accented by delicate flowers in light pink, blue and yellow. The sconce arm extends up to support a round bobeche with webbing, urns, and floral details on its underside. These brass sconces are in excellent condition with a beautifully aged finish; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. Charming antique two-arm sconce in its original polychrome finish, featuring pink and green floral accents. Marked with patent date and signature “M.L.P", the sconce was made in 1927 by Markel Lighting Products of Buffalo, NY. This cream-colored wall lamp is crowned by a volute and foliate top finial; below, the backplate has a seeded texture with florets, leaves, and a full flower centerpiece. Extending from the back plate, two sconce arms support beaded and gadrooned bobeches. This wall lamp is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all necessary attachments for modern installation. Large pair of antique Gothic Revival three-arm sconces, dating from the late 19th century and salvaged out of Philadelphia. Each cast wall lamp features its original brass and bronze finish and a pierced body of two angled panels, each with bronze cut-outs of trefoils, diamonds, and flowers. Three U-shaped sconce arms extend from the base of each sconce, supporting leafy bobeches that wrap around the candles. Each sconce finishes in an orb finial that extends below the below. These sconces are in very good antique condition; there is a slight crack to one of the lower finials as shown. The fixtures have been professionally rewired and come with all necessary attachments for modern installation. Each sconce measures 16" wide, 21-1/2" tall, and projects 14-1/2" from the wall.   « Less

Magnificent and Very Scarce Pair of Moe Bridges Sconces Not likely to exaggerate...we have to say that this pair of sconces is really quite hard to find. (the term “rare” is way over-used) For a bit of history, we have to go back to the Depression days. Moe Bridges and Consolidated Glass got together to bring out a fine line of cameo style fixtures to appeal to the very wealthy. They got together for a collaboration, and just when they got things going, the bottom of the stock market fell out and the Depression came into full swing. Consolidated Glass went bankrupt no less than four times during the Depression, and one of the product casualties was this family of fixtures. Saying all that...how scarce are these? Every once in a while you do see a ceiling bowl, but more rarely, you find a pair of sconces like these. They also made a two light pendant but “probably” nothing else. It could be guessed that a chandelier might have been in the making, but nothing exists in the literature for the design of one. Even the literature for this pair of sconces is pretty rudimentary. Measurements: * Height: 10 ¾" * Width: 6" * Projection: 6 ¾" from the wall into the room. The sconces have electrical switches inside the glass shade for a smooth look on the outside. These have been completely re-wired, and new sockets installed. We would suggest using low wattage bulbs to protect the gorgeous antique shades. Really would prefer LED or compact fluorescent light bulbs for a lower heat production. The frames are solid brass (possibly bronze?), and in excellent condition. The fixture has been totally re-wired and is ready to mount. We will supply the replacement mounting crossbars and all-thread. The heavy cast backplate with embellished design is so typical of the Edwardian regency style. Nice design elements include two tower castles in the center of the backplate with the top being a heraldic shield and crown. Lovely design and contrast. The candletube and bobéche are both white opal glass...not paper or composition. Really outstanding quality. The metal of the backplates is cast iron with a lovely pewter finish.
