Circa 2007 Canvas plus frame measures 17 1/3" high by 20 1/2" wide. This is a new plein air painting by listed California artist James Dudley Slay 111. It is a landscape of autumn colors made in Eaton Canyon north of Pasadena. The painting uses lush colors in bold yet restful style. Perfect for any decor. He followed this with personal tutoring from Russian impressionist Sergei Bongart. He also studied with Karl Dempwolf and Frank Serrano at the California Art Club. His specialty is painting in the plein air tradition and in his studio. His works can be found in private collections nationwide and in permanent display at the American Museum of Art in Petropavlovsk, Kamechatka Russia. Circa 1880 Size: 11" high by 9" wide framed 7" high by 4" wide image only This is an landscape watercolor by W.G. Alfred Jones born in England in 1819 an died in New York in 1900. He was an engraver and painter of landscapes. He had a love of the Rocky Mountains and painted a series he called the Rocky Mountain series. They were sold through an art store located at 404 Barclay Block Denver, Colorado. The painting has a picture of the artist in his elderly years sketching in a field under an umbrella. During his life he was active and exhibited in The American Watercolor Society and The National Academy of Design. He is listed in Davenport''s, Falk''s Who''s Who in American At and Tyler''s Painters of the West. It has been on my desk for many years and would fit into any decor.
