Exceptional openwork sterling silver vase w raised handhammered, hand engraved birds, bamboo and leaves and extended leaves. Strong Japanese or Japanese influence such as English Arts and Crafts. Late 19th or veryearly 20th century. This is the style that influenced Tiffany ''s best silverware. Stands 8 7/8'' high, excluding wooden base. Conical shape. Round domed foot with raised pattern and hand-hammered background. Leads to very fine stem in the form of a bamboo shoot. From this a number of leaves radiate, entirely 3 dimentional. The solid bamboo shaped segments become magnificent openwork, engraved and handhammered for additional effect in the form of bamboo leaves and stems with a number of raised birds perching or swooping down on them. There is a small circular medallion in the front that has not been engraved with a monogram/name. The top flares to a ruffled, frilly flower form. There is an insert which appears to be somewhat luminescent. A wooden Chinese base at the bottom, was, I believe placed there later. It in no way interferes with the integrity of the vase and is easilly removed. The hallmarks on the side of the silver base are worn, making it difficult to be sure of the origins of the piece. There is clearly an MM or WW mark and another, complex mark, partially rubbed as well as an almost entirely rubbed mark. It is outstanding workmanship of the highest quality. The whole is in good condition except for some minor soldering on the bottom/lower segment where the radiating leaves join the stem. Sterling silver jewelry / trinket box with handpainted miniature portrait of a beautiful young woman holding a bunny rabbit. Silver is hallmarked for London, England, 1899. Measures 2 1/2 inches long and almost 1 1/2 inches high. Oval, hinged box. Unusually deep. No adornment to silver except for the thumbpiece. The top is set with an oval porcelain plaque with a very fine painting of a dark-haired beauty holding a rabbit. She stands in front of a landscape - we see the trees and sky in the background. Wonderful detail - see fine manner eyes, hair and fur were painted, creamy nature of the skin and delicate colouring of the sky. Clearly the work of a master professional. The box is hallmarked on both bottom and lid. Maker''s mark is SC, leopard head, lion and date letter d for 1899. Condition is very good - no dents/dings/losses/wear/restoration. Here is a small bag with a number of badges and a silver chain. They were in the drawer of an antique table that I bought about 10 years ago. The contents are as follows: 1. a silver cross badge marked 16B STERLING. It has a square center from which 4 arms with rounded sides protrude. Measures 3/4inch accross. 2.A sterling silver large Rifle badge. It has a Maltese cross with a bullseye target in the center, and around this is a wreath with a bow beneath it. From the sides of the bow hang a rectangle that has raised letters RIFLE on it. The back of this badge has raised letters: STERLING KREW G-1 and another mark with an A in a logo and STERLING and G-1 again. 3. A small plastic American flag. 4. a silver chain. The pieces all come in an official looking black silk pouch. Good condition (see ''photos). Slightly elongated, elegantly curved bowl, the sides curling over, widening towards the middle. Understated and sophisticated. Marks and hallmarks as follows: Engraved underneath parallel to the oval perimeter: OMAR RAMSDEN ET ALWYN CARR ME FECERVNT. On the side, beneath the curled rim:maker''s mark RN & CR (Ramsden and Carr); lion passant, leopard head, date letter q. The form of the hallmarks date the piece to 1911. Good condition. Sterling silver light switch cover. Bought in Israel about 10 years ago, but not used and mint in box. Made by Hazorfim silver company. Measures approx 5 X 3 1/2 inches. Rectangular plaque with sticky attachment at the back to cover light switches on the Sabbath. Engraved in the center Lichvod Shabbat and with beautiful repousse scrolls and shells forming a frame around the center. Held within a red wood frame. A series of tiny numbers engraved next to a lozenge with the sterling silver 925 standard engraved in it. The back has a lovely diamond-shaped plaque attached to it, also in silver, with engraved ''Hazorfim since 1952'' between scrolls. New condition. Sterling silver teapot. Made London, England 1685. Measures approx 4 1/2 inches high. Total distance front to back is approx 8 1/2 inches. Small bullet shaped teapot. Straight spout that opens like a mouth. Sturdy hinged lid with hinges in good shape, as is finial. Front has an engraved family crest - a bird with a leafy twig in it''s beak. Horn handle is most likely a Victorian replacement, but all other parts are original and in good condition. Marked underneath with the following hallmarks: R (maker); crowned leopard for London, lion passant and date letter h for 1685. Someone has also engraved / scratched an oval with FT in it. I have been informed that the R is attributable to Alexander Roode. Please enquire about our other wonderful teapots and drinking utensils. Made in France, 19th century.2 inches high, 4 1/2inches in diameter.Round box with fine raised foliage bands around the borders of the lower sectionx Concave steps towards the lid and thumbpiece, continued to the top of the lid, with a gadrooned border, to a central plateau containing a wonderful painting of a ginger tabby cat on ivory. Huge golden eyes, long white whiskers - fabulous thick coat in a myriad of orange and gold shades. The cat''s face is caught perfectly. Fabulous detail. Hinged lid. Inside box is gilded.Silver hallmarks under box, inside box and on side of lid. Male facing left as used for .950 standard from 1879. Maker initials J.M.Very good condition.
