A high quality Meiji Satsuma cylindrical box and cover on three legs, painted in polychrome enamels and gold. The top of the lid decorated with a rectangle of geishas in a wisteria garden, a misty mountain scene, blossoms, wisteria and butterflies. The side and interior with wisteria and butterflies by the dozen. Signed on the base. Condition: minor wear to gilt, no chips or crack minor staining to base. 5'' wide. Well modeled Japanese Kutani Hotei with his bag. Well executed late Edo or early Meiji period piece that is quite whimsical in nature. otei is one of the Shichi Fukujin, the seven Japanese Shinto-gods of luck. He is the god of happiness, laughter and the wisdom of contentment, and is the patron of the weak and children, fortunetellers and bartenders. Hotei is distinguished by his body of generous proportions and round stomach exposed beneath loose robes. His big belly is a symbol of happiness, luck and generosity. On his back he carrys a huge linen bag containing precious things and gifts of good fortune, including children. He stands about 5'' tall has great gilding on his robes and is in excellent condition. Beautifully painted famille rose platter with bats, birds cash Buddhist symbols and more. Nicely detailed in all respects a truly well done later Qing / early Republic piece. Condition is excellent and there are no chips or repairs. This is a early (1895-1900) very beautiful Chinese Porcelain Platter. It measures 12'' by 9''. It has a wide gilded band that is decorated with hundreds of colorful, rich enameled cash coins, flowers and Buddhist symbols. These encircle the entire rim of the platter. In the center of the Platter, is a tiger crane bird and several bats.. Shades and enameling are done in Rose Medallion, Famille Rose and Rose Mandarin palettes. The underside has a pale orange peel Celadon ground with the very bottom unfinished and also containing old sand from the early firings. A rare piece of early Chinese Porcelain in a rare design. Early 19th large early Meiji / late Edo Japanese Imari tray or possibly a handled charger or low bowl, richly decorated with four rounded panels with flowers and plants. The ground of the tray is very richly decorated with chrysanthemum and peony heads flowers, leafs, foliage. The dimensions are 14'' by 8.5'' the condition is excellent good - has only one short very tiny hairline to the handle with virtually no age wear to the enamel. Circa 1850. Great handles!
