The mugs are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks of any kind, they measure approximately 5” high. There are no marks on the bottom of the mugs. Royalty / Commemorative : A Rare Minton Bone China Orb lidded Bowl To Commemorate The Crowning of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 Limited Edition no. 104 of 600 designed by John Wadsworth A very rare and unusual Orb shaped lidded Bowl of a limited edition of 600 made by Minton to an exceptionally high quality with rich gilding throughout. The shape as reminiscent to the Orb which is part of the British Crown Jewels and manufactured by one of the best British potteries. In high quality gilt around the rim of the lower section of the orb reads To Commemorate The Crowning of Queen Elizabeth The Second June 2nd 1953. Roses, thistles and shamrocks encircle the base. Stamped to the underside Limited issue of 600 of which this is no 104, the usual Minton stamp and signed designed by John Wadsworth. Stands about 5 1/2 inches/14 cms high - Diameter 4.75"/ 12 cms and weighs 500g John Wadworth also designed Minton 'Secessionist' Ware Very good 'Mint' Condition - images taken in garden and there are shadows from plants in the photos and some images a bit blurry - item is in wonderful vintage condition Surely a serious consideration for any serious Commeorative collection a wonderful and rare piece worthy of any Collection Reference: http://www.thepotteries.org/features/mintons1956.htm The most renowned of their artists in modern times was John Wadsworth who joined the firm in 1901, remained until his decease in 1955, and achieved his crowning glory in designing the great vase in commemoration of the Coronation of the Queen. I have listed for sale a very rare dated Circa 1940 Crystal Adolf Hitler tinnie / pendent for sale. I have done extensive research on these and this came from a set that was made called Famous German People. Most sell for a moderate price but most of Hitler's have been destroyed over the years so these are very scarce to find. This tinnie is in fine condition with very very tiny nicks on one side and the crystal in fine condition. The lady I purchased this from has had it tucked away for years in a jewelry box because it was her mother in laws. When she passed then the lady decided to part with it.
