Watercolor by WPA artist, sculptor and teacher Adolph Aldrich. The still life is not his normal subject matter as he was really known for landscapes. This is currently is original frame, mat board and backing but will have acid free boards soon. Signed and dated lr adolph aldrich 37. A blue pitcher with blue flowers and foliage with black outlines giving the w/c nice depth and contrast. Image itself is approx 9x15, frame 15x21'', done on heavy cream woven paper. GREAT investment art, I sold a landscape w/c of his a year or two ago and his prices have continued up since that time. Watercolor is priced quite reasonably if you check his auction records, listed in whos who, mallet, davenports and other art reference and pricing books. Oil on canvas housed in original frame by Amalia Ferri. We are handling the art portfolio/estate of the late Amalia Ferri (East Longmeadow MA), b1908 d1998. She was a student at the Springfield Art School and studied under listed artists Marion Huse and Adolph Aldrich. Ms Ferri worked in many mediums all with a regionalist/expressionist flare. Although she did study under these two listed artists she did develop her own style. This oil painting has a heavy impasto styling to the paint with great texture to the red striped blanket and flower display. A nice touch is Ms Ferri blended the main colors of flower setting into backround so all the colors work very well together. Titled on back tulips & narcissus and signed in lr. Painting is approx 19x24''. Status: For Sale Reference#: 1410014x Condition: very good Year: c1940 « Less

Although she did study under these two listed artists she did develop her own style. This oil on canvas is approx 16x18'' and housed in a very nice Belgian frame. The oil on canvas painting has one very small hole through the canvas on the right side. The still life scene has a blue pitcher with flowers, mandolin, long gloves and what I believe is a playbill with mother and child. Both the mandolin and the pitcher have an impasto paint style giving the painting nice depth. Deep rich colors, signed on stretcher Amalia Ferri Still Life.
