For Sale is a nice carnival glass Ruffled Sauce Bowl made by The Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, PA. The pattern is called "Cherry" and is a Amethyst base color glass. The Bowl measures 2" tall and is 5 3/4" wide.
The bowl depicts clusters of stemmed cherries hanging from a wreath of stippled leaves and branches on the interior. The iridescence is brilliant and wonderful as you can see vivid hues of Blue, Teal, Fuchsia on a strong Gold background. The edge of the bowl is ruffled with 8 ruffles, not the typical 6 that is more commonly found. According to the Carnival Glass Collectors these 8 Ruffles are Rare and quite hard to find. The exterior of the bowl is known as "Jeweled Heart" and is without iridescence.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no nicks, chips or dings. The only issue is some minor pooling of the iridescence on the inside flat bottom and this is pictured. This was quite common in the fuming, heating and cooling process and is not after manufacturing damage.
This piece was made circa 1909-1914. « Less

For Sale is a Beautiful Vase made by the Fenton Art Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia. The pattern is called "Rustic" and the color is Marigold. The Vase as some size to it as it stands 9 5/8" tall and it is 5" in diameter at the widest crimp at the top rim . The base of this lovely piece is 3 1/4" in diameter.
The Vase displays evenly spaced elongated hobs surrounding the trunk and entire exterior of the piece. The bottom row of hobs are circular and all of the hobs protrude approximately 3/8" to 1/4". The color of this gem is marigold and there is great iridescence on the exterior. You can see hues of Blue, Gold, Purple, Green and Fuchsia with no loss to the iridescence that I can see. The bottom foot is clear. There is a wonderful crimped top with an very irregular top border. The glass in this vase was swung extra hard to achieve this top crimped edge.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is an air bubble the shape of a partial moon trapped inside the foot and can be seen and not felt. Trapped air bubbles is typical of early Carnival glass. The piece is unsigned but guaranteed to be Vintage Fenton. This Vase is a typical regular size vase with great iridescence.
This Vase was made Circa 1911-1926. « Less

For Sale is a beautiful piece of carnival glass made by the Millersburg Glass Company of Holmes County, Ohio. The shape is a Spooner and the pattern is "Hanging Cherries". More »
For Sale is a beautiful piece of carnival glass made by the Millersburg Glass Company of Holmes County, Ohio. The shape is a Spooner and the pattern is "Hanging Cherries". The Spooner measures 4" tall and is 6 1/4" in diameter outside handle measurement. The vessel without the handles measures 3 13/16" in diameter.
The Spooner depicts very detailed clusters of hanging cherries from branches and stippled leaves that are realistic with attention to the veining and serrated edges. The piece has two molded handles and is finished with a soft scalloped edge to the top rim. It has a collar base and smooth interior. The iridescence on this Spooner is excellent as you can see vivid colors of Gold, Blue, Purple, and Teal on the exterior and interior. This is considered to be a Radium finish. The iridescence on this piece is stunning.
This Spooner is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. All the teeth on the top border are damage free, not even a flea nick. The mold is crisp and the detail in the leaves is outstanding. There are some mold imperfections like straw marks but nothing obtrusive. The piece is not signed but the pattern is a well documented Millersburg pattern.
The Spooner was created in the Victorian era as many people did not have enough silverware for each place setting. The hostess or homemaker would place the vessel in the middle of the table with water and spoons in it so the guests could share their spoons and rinse after each use. The more affluent family would display these regularly on their table with silver spoons in them to show their hospitality. This is a very collectible table accessory that was made in many different mediums of glass, pottery, metal and silver.
Millersburg Glass Company began construction in 1908 by John W. Fenton after breaking away from the Fenton Art Glass Company where he and his brothers, Frank and Charles, were partners. He began glass production in May of 1909 however the company filed for bankruptcy in 1911 most likely due to his lack of business experience and remote location. John was noted for his extravagance and attention to detail in his workmanship making Millersburg some of the most desirable carnival glass available. I have also read that Black Cherries were John's favorite fruit and several of the trees planted on the property surrounding the factory. He would sometimes have his workers climb the trees and break off a branch for him to study and work on his patterns.
The Spooner was made Circa 1909-1911. « Less

For Sale is a very nice piece of Carnival Glass made by The Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. The Shape is known as a "Hatpin Holder" and it is done in the very popular "Grape and Cable" pattern. The Hatpin Holder stands 6 5/8" tall and is 2 3/4" in diameter at the feet. The top of the Hatpin Holder is 2 1/2".
The Hatpin Holder is made from a beautiful base glass of Amethyst or Purple. The Iridescence is just beautiful. You can see deep rich Purple/Blue iridescence along with Fuchsia and Gold. The Hatpin Holder displays a very lovely Pattern of Raised Grapes and Leaves that hang from Vine that surrounds the piece. The Bunches of Grapes are large and plentiful. There are Leaves that separate these Vertical Clusters giving this piece some balance. The Veining in the Leaves is just outstanding. You can also see the fine Stippling in the Leaves and this adds more Value to the piece. Just above these Vertical Leaves is a Band that surrounds the lower neck. These are grooves in the Band to simulate a Cable, thus the name "Grape and Cable. The Vase is supported by 3 nicely applied Ribbed Spatula shaped feet.
The Hatpin Holder is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is minor roughness on two of the feet. I believe this was caused when the Hatpin Holder was removed from the mold as the roughness is right on the seam. This is Not Damage and considered Factory made. This is a very nice Hatpin Holder with Strong Detail and good Iridescence. These were once Plentiful during the Victorian Era but a 100 years later they are seldom seen in this condition. The piece is signed with the underlined N in a circle Northwood mold mark.
These were originally part of a Dresser Set for Ladies. I'm sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This piece was made Circa 1910-1920. « Less
