Le Verre Francais, Schneider cameo art glass compote / tazza, made in France, early 20th century. Top has diameter of 6 3/8 inches and is 6 inches high. Stands on dark glass base, gradually cut away like the stem of a delicate plant, leading to a full circle of bright red flowers of all sizes. Orange - yellow glow with bright polished darker, mottled colour of flowers. Engraved signature on top of base: Le Verre Francais and underneath the base: FRANCE. Condition is very good. Vintage pink and gold Venetian / Murano art glass swan, made in Murano, Italy 1940-50''s. Measures 5 1/4 inches high. Standing on scalloped round base. Very elegant hand made art glass swan, winges lifted in readiness for flight, each feather individually expressed, flecked with gold. Long neck curves into a beautiful shape, ending in gold and clear glass beak. Very strong artistic sensitivity. For sale I have a Lovely Cordial made by The Stevens and Williams Glass Company of Stourbridge, West Midlands England. The piece stands 6 1/4" tall. The foot has a diameter of 2 3/4" and the opening at the top has a diameter of 3 1/8" outside measurement. The Cordial displays a very beautiful Translucent Light Jade Green Cup that rises up from a Round Opaline Foot. The Cup sits on a nicely applied Opaline Stem. The Glass Blowing is so perfect it appears that the Cup and the Stem were blown from 1 piece of glass. This is not the case as this is a 3 part Cordial. There is the round Foot, the applied stem with the Cup being fused to the Stem to look like 1 piece. The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Piece is unsigned as is the case with most of these. They more than likely had a Paper Label that simply fell off over time. There are a few white inclusions from the mixtures of Opaline and Jade along with an air bubble in the Cup portion. This does not affect the Value what so ever. These pieces are commonly confused with Steuben as this Glass looks similar. Steuben never made this shape and the S&W Jades are more of a pastel where as Steuben's very much more Vibrant. Steuben did make a similar one but the Jade on Steuben is much denser and not so translucent. Frederick Carder worked for Stevens & Williams from 1881-1902. It is very possible that he created this formula for them during his employment with them. It is known that this Glass was Not produced during his tenure. This is a quality piece of Art Glass and I'm sure the lucky winner will not be disappointed with their purchase. This piece was made Circa 1915-1928. I firmly believe it was produced to compete with Steuben's Jades and Rosalines at the time.   « Less

Dagobert Peche studied in Vienna between 1908 and1911.Startingwithmechanical engineering at the Technical Institute, he switched to the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, where he studied architecture. On completing his studies, Dagobert Peche designed carpets as well as china. Although his formal language at first revealed Baroque and Rococo influences, Dagobert Peche was soon keenly interested in standardizing forms and the new possibilities afforded by industrial mass production of crafts objects. In 1914 he showed work at the Deutscher Werkbund exhibition in Cologne.Dagobert Peche joined the Wiener Werkstätte in 1915. In 1916 Dagobert Peche became a director of the Winer Werkstätte. As one of its most creative exponents, Peched designed some three thousand objects, including china, furniture, book bindings, jewelry, fashions, textiles, and even Christmas tree decorations. Until his death in 1923, Dagobert Peche continued to exert a strong pull on the designs produced by the Wiener Werkstätte. Michael Powolny for Loetz as part of the Wiener Werkstätte. Established in 1903, the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshops) was a production community of visual artists. The workshop brought together architects, artists and designers whose first commitment was to design art which would be accessible to everyone.   « Less
