A nice antique trunk which retains its original canvas, paint and slightly rustic hardware. It has very nice leather trim which is all intact and measures a respectable size 32.5"L X 24"H X 21.5"W. The old strap keepers are intact but the straps are largely missing. I retained the traces that are there since the naturally aged look was what we were after. It is a good solid trunk with a nice original rustic look and smooth feel. The lock is from the Eagle Lock Company and dated 1892. Someone pried a little right where the key goes in but not too bad. I will include an antique barrel key and it operated effortlessly. Latches work perfectly and the hinges are tip top.The inside is finished wood which appears to be nicely aging yellow pine. Its nice original tray is present and it would be a good one to display open with some of your decorations or collectibles showing.   « Less

These child's (doll's) trunks are getting harder to find every year, especially in good original, unaltered condition. This one has all the original hinges & latches intact, as well as original leather covering, needing only the leather handles replaced. Many people remove the thin leather coverings, and polish the wood underneath, which is what I would do with it myself, but this one we're offering as is, at least until I have time to restore it. Good strong condition, wood is strong and virtually damage free, just showing expected wear for its age. Leather covering is tired, but 98% intact, except for a small patch on one side. Original rollers in base work fine. Hinges are strong. Just a fantastic child's trunk that will be a show piece when done. Buy now or pay quite a bit more later when it's restored! French 16th century walnut chest or coffer with fluted column sides, carved medallions, lidded top and a door on the front. The center panel depicts the Greek god Helios, who personified the sun, and is flanked by 2 figures in niches. Superb early Renaissance period cabinetry.
