The tureen is of an oval footed form with a dark blue floral knop and strap handles. ;The tureen, cover and stand is decorated in the Fitzhugh pattern but rather than in underglaze blue, this tureen is in a blue overglaze enamel. ;Few pieces are known is this manner and it is most probable that all known pieces come from the same service probably made for the Swedish market. Chinese blue and white porcelain tureen and cover. Dates to Qianlong period, 1736 - 1795. Measures: 12 inches accross, excluding handles. Approx 7 1/2inches high, including finial. Canted rectangular form with crimped indentations at the corners. Painted with Chinese pagodas / pavilions and rocky outcrops, pine trees and blossoms before a riverscape and birds flying in formation overhead between mountain crags. The sides applied with rabbit head handles. The cover with peonies and chrysanthemums and applied with a pomegranate - shaped finial. One small chip to the pomegranate, but no other chips/cracks/restorations. Provenance: owned by the same Dutch family for hundreds of years and lent to a museum. When the agreement with the museum ended, this item was sold by the family (sold by SOthebys). Rare flow blue soup tureen with matching deep undertray. H&K PALMERSTONE. Made in England, 19th century. Measurements: tray is 14 inches long X a little over 10 1/4 wide. Tureen is 14 inches from handle to handle, 9inches accross and 8inches high. Beautiful pattern of roses and blossoms in deep dark blue. Frilly shaped base of tureen is echoed by the well of the undertray and the larger frill of the upper rim and lid are echoed by the curves of the tray rim. Moulded handles and finial. Slightly folded form of tureen. Both tureen and undertray are marked in blue underglaze H&K within a round tube and PALMERSTONE inside the circle formed by the tube. Also underglaze letter F on both shows that they are a matching set. The condition of both pieces is great. The tureen is in excellent condition with absolutely negligible marks hidden on the upper inside corner. The undertray has no damage but is quite badly crazed in the center. Dating to the very early days of Minton, 1820''s - 30''s, named landscape and magnificent floral painting on a globe bone china POT POURRI. It was probably the work of artist John Beard. Measurements: 6 1/2'' high; 11'' from end to end. Globe shaped. Surface is decorated with richly coloured, modelled applied flowers. These floral encrusted pieces were done in the Dresden style and Minton also copied the Meissen mark of crossed swords. However, the models are well-documented as being Minton (this is shape 19 in the pattern book). One side of the piece has a truly magnificent floral painting covering it''s surface and the other shows a landscape with a rich waterfall and small people standing on a rocky outcrop below. The scene is inscribed in handwritten script below as LYDFORD CASCADE. Green twist handles extend to well over the sides of the piece, tendrils ending in a variety of modelled flowers. Marks:Underneath is the imitation Meissen / Dresden mark, known to be used by Minton at that period for these very special pieces. The bottom of the piece, below the landscape is inscribed ''Lydford Cascade'' in purple script. Condition: for it''s age and delicacy, the piece is in very good condition.
