Hand painted with outstanding detail, scene depicting farmer woman lying down with a child or putti, representing the harvest of crop and grapes. Fantastic pieces of great quality. This guy is great! During the 1940's, Paden City did some private work for Barth Art Glass using Barth's molds. This Pelican is one of those rare animals that was produced then. Standing approximately 10" tall, the detail on the pelican is extremely good. I believe this interesting piece probably dates to the 30's or 40's. It was produced by New Martinsville who really made some beautiful quality figurines and bookends. This particular figurine was fashioned to represent a tiger. In my opinion it could be any of a number of the large cats, not just a tiger. It is a nice, heavy piece with very good detail and the glass is crystal clear. The base measures 5 7/8" in length and 3" in width while the overall height is approximately 6 1/2". Often referred to as Elephant #2 or Mama Elephant, this piece is solid glass and measures approximately 4" in height and 6 1/2" in length from trunk to tail. She has her trunk lowered and outstretched with it curling into a loop at the end. The figurine is in wonderful condition.
