Looks more like nickel silver, but this vintage cigar case carries the touchmark of the Association of British Pewter Craftsmen, so it would be polished pewter. Holds two cigars (one old cigar still in there). Measures 14.5 cm long, 4.2 cm wide and 2.1 cm deep (5.3/4 inches by 1.5/8 inches by 7/8 inch). A few scuffs, but very good sound condition. Carved pipe, made in the Black Forest, and depicting a coiled snake on the stem, with an apple on the tree of the bowl. Snake has tiny glass eyes. The mouth piece is amber, sadly has been broken and glued. Silver metal band above this. The case is crimson velvet and silk. It has the tiny screws missing from its hinges. For Sale is a Desk Set or Tobacciana Collectible made by The Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturing Company of Meriden, CT. This desk set item is called a "Cigar Humidor". The Humidor is a large one as it stands 8" tall and is 6 1/8" in diameter at the foot. The Humidor is done in an Arts and Crafts Overlay Pattern of Poinsettia Leaves. There are 4 blow out half rounds of this leafy overlay pattern that has slumped Green Stained Glass behind it. These blow outs sit on a round foot and it has a nice and secure lid to lock in the freshness. The Patina is a mottled green and when you look inside the well you can see the original deep mottled green finish. When I first saw the Humidor from a distance I thought it was Tiffany. Tiffany Studios, Apollo Studios and Riviere Studios of New York all did overlay patterns on this same idea and also made Humidors. The Patina and finish is what lead me to this being made by Bradley and Hubbard. This Humidor appears to have been made for Cigars judging by the depth of the well. The piece is considered to be in very good condition to excellent condition. It does show signs of wear as some of the finish is missing in areas and the bottom platform has a small dent. Other than these minor age imperfections it is in wonderful condition. The Humidor still retains its original Medico Humidor pack under the lid behind the metal screen. I took the humidor apart to show all the parts. This is when I found the small pack. You never find these with these old humidors but we are lucky to have it with this one. I was also looking for a makers mark as well. The piece is not signed but the Mottled Patina Finish is trademarked Bradley and Hubbard finish and is as good as having a signature because of it. This is a hard to find item by Bradley & Hubbard. Cigar Clubs are back in fashion and I'm sure the Connoisseur of fine Cigars that decorates in and Arts and Crafts Mission style will enjoy storing his Cigars inside. I believe this Humidor to have been made Circa 1910-1920.   « Less

Vesta case or match safe: USA, with front engraved with pretty design o flowers among foliage. Black shield to engrave your initials. Plain rear. Striker panel at the bottom. Spring to lid is still working well. Vase has a suspension loop. Item measures 4.9 cm by 3.5 cm and 1.2 cm thick. It has some minor usage dents (two on one side only) and a shallow thumb depression on the front. The rear has a small imperfection in the plating. Over all, very good condition, just normal age and usage wear. It would date late 1800s to early 1900s.   « Less
