Circa 1860 Renaissance Victorian mantle, cast iron, Boston, MA, signed “H Tucker, patented by, Apr 9, 1859”, mantle and shelf are numbered “5”, classical dentil molded shelf, face on scrolled panel, original inset glass eglomoise/reverse panels in black/gold faux paint(panels on front and sides-four). 58” wide, 39” tall, 6” deep, Mantle shelf – 66” wide, 10” deep, Fireplace opening – 35” wide, 32” tall. (92) Condition - front surface and shelf good condition, some iron is cracked off/missing on each side/under shelf/is somewhat hidden by shelf, believed to be later/old black paint. - Some discoloring on glass panels, right front panel has spidered crack. 92h - H Tucker made several different patterns of cast iron mantles, a similar Rococo version is shown on page 147, Styles of American Furniture, by R Dubrow. - The last photo shows an excerpt to the US Patent Office in 1851 by Hiram Tucker, Boston, MA. - Shipping appears to be approx 400/Nashville area-550/New Jersey.   « Less
