You are bidding on item #STL15/3. Outstanding Minton Platter in a great decorative fruit motiff and fantastic colors. Made by the renowned Thomas Minton's factory STOKE-UPON-TRENT in the year 1868. Makers mark stamped on bottom along with other artist marks. This piece is part of a set of three pieces including a smaller platter and a tureen that you can find in my other item's list. This platter is in great shape with no cracks, chips, repairs or damage of any kind. MEASURES: 21 1/2" LONG X 17" WIDE X 2" HIGH APPROX. ENGLAND CIRCA 1868. This is a superb early 19th century large armorial crested orange Fitzhugh Chinese export serving platter. The crest of nesbitt in the center enclosed by a gilt belt with the motto JE LE MAINTIENDRAI within the typical quartered decoration. This wonderful platter is of a small group of services made for the British market in 'orange Fitzhugh', a pattern much more closely identified with the Americans who dominated the China Trade in the Federal Period. Antique Hand-Painted Porcelain Cake Plate Circa. 1860 England. Hand-painted porcelain cake serving plate. Fine flower bouquet in center. Cobalt blue borders with ivory cartouche inserts, delicate gold decoration, molded gadrooned and scalloped edge. Some wear in applied gold, a few very minor chips on bottom foot rim, consistent with age. No maker's mark. Very often, only one or two pieces in a large set receive the maker's mark, I suspect this is the situation with this item. In excellent condition. Measures 11 inches wide, 8 1/4 inches deep and one inch high.   « Less

Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica circular bread platter (possibly the base to something) with mottled center and surrounded by wheat ears laid on brown ground. Ochre bands around the rim and mottled center. Turquoise reverse. Three stilt marks inside the foot rim, along with impressed ''12'' mark and painted ''132''. Bears characteristics of the Brown Westhead Moore & Co factory. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes. Some wear to the center. Exceptional Dresden pedestal cake plate or tazza. This graceful serving piece was retailed by the fine, high end retailers, Bailey, Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia, during the hey day of The Belle Epoch, to be used in the serving of petite fours or other dainties. Fully marked for the very well regarded Carl Thieme Saxony Porcelain Factory in Dresden, Germany, this company began as a decorating studio in 1860 and began to produce its own porcelain in 1872. Thieme decorated his porcelain in the style and patterns of the finest European makers, Vienna, Sevres and Meissen, and employed expert porcelain painters to create beautiful and realistic floral and botanical arrangements in the "alt Dresden" style. This lovely piece features a reticulated border and base and a gently curved upward edge. The colors are bright and lively, on a pure white back round, with plentiful gold detail. Excellent original condition with no signs of wear or use. A rare find, fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. 8 1/2" diameter, 5" tall.   « Less
