Victorian, circa 1880 Set of three Majolica vases. Urn shaped, on pedestal foot, with tapered neck. Decorated with putti and roses on brown stipple ground. Two putto draped in a loin cloth molded on either side of the neck. Turquoise band around the base. Mottled cream, green and blue glazes to rim and neck interior with the same glazing inside the foot. Vase 1 (Large): Kiln effects: small glaze miss to rose bud; stray turquoise glaze to faces of putto on neck. Restoration to fill a hole in the base. Vase 2: Kiln effects: small glaze miss to side and a few to the foot; stray turquoise glaze to faces of putto on neck. Restored flake to putto nose. Rustic branch molded handle. Pale pink interior and base. Impressed makers marks to base including ''MINTON'', ''580'' and date cipher for 1868. Raised pattern registration diamond. Good. Both the children are leaning on a podium, and the boy is holding a flower in his right hand. The clock is decorated with various relief molded figures and foliage. Pink sponged effect decoration to the base. Two small holes below clock front. Two stilt marks to reverse of clock. Three vent holes to the underside. Similar piece illustrated figure 27, page 117, ''English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840'' by Pat Halfpenny. Generally good. No hairlines. Two flakes to lower base edge, and minor flaking along the upper base edge, both on the boy''s side. Flaking around the large hole on the underside.
