All original, combination gas-electric wall sconce. Fresh from a local Brooklyn brownstone, this unusual single brass sconce features a single, swirled milk glass gas arm (up) in the form of a candle and bobeche. The down facing arm is a simple electric fixture with a soft white satin glass shade. The canopy is round brass in a bell shape. Perfect for the purist, only the socket and wiring is new. No missing or broken parts, original patina. Good overall condition. 13 1/2 " long x 4 1/2" wide x 7" deep.   « Less

Simple, round shaped base and turned shaft, lead to a graceful "Aladdins Lamp" style arm which supports an elegant frosted glass shade with brass trim and long icicle crystals. Large, important, American Aesthetic Movement chandelier. We were lucky enough to purchase this elegant, all original six arm chandelier at an excellent price locally from a New York City home, and the very reasonable price reflects our good buy, not the quality or authenticity of this light. This fine Victorian light is large in size but not overly ornate or heavy. It is made of both brass and copper elements, which provide a contrast that was very popular during the Aesthetic Period. Each of the six tubular brass arms is connected to the central brass body with a stylized leaf and flower decoration in copper. There is also an open "bird cage" also in copper, which ends in curlicues on the central brass shaft. Each arm retains it's original cast brass gas "key" and shade holder. The original large canopy is a modified "beehive" design and is also copper. The large Period, open bowl shaped shades on this beautiful light are also exceptionally lovely with very delicate designs of lily of the valley flowers, shells and swags. All six shades are in excellent original condition. Originally gas, the fixture has been professionally electrified with Edison based sockets. All the metal, both copper and brass have a lovely old patina. This fixture is easily lengthened or shortened to suit. 36" diameter x 46 1/2" long as pictured.   « Less

Lovely pair of Early 20th century vintage French, heavy cast bronze wall sconces. Elegant yet simple, this fine pair of single light wall lights, feature finely cast foliate back plates with a single, downwardly curved neck. The period shades are a beautiful iridescent pearl color, with a fine etched design. Very good condition with a deep original age patina to the metal and no damage to the glass. Fresh to the market from a fine Park Slope Brooklyn brownstone is this large and important ten arm, original gas/electric (gasolier) chandelier. The main section of this light is a large spittoon shape with open mouthed lion medallions. Each lion has a candle arm coming from it's open mouth. Under this main section is a smaller round brass section that has five additional gas fixture serpentine arms, beneath which there is a large turned brass finial. Under the large original ceiling canopy is a long brass shaft that attaches to an inverted bell and is in turn surrounded by five radiating tubes which attach to the top of the spittoon. The gas arms with glass shades retain their heavy, open work, cast brass petcocks (gas valve switch). The five fine Period glass gas shades have serrated edges and clear and textured sections and are in fine condition. All solid cast brass with a fine original patina. Professionally converted and re-wired for safety. Very fine condition. 49 " long x 30" diameter.   « Less

Spectacular is the only way to describe this extremely large, important, six arm gilt brass American Victorian chandelier, which would be at home in the parlor of any mansion or palace. Fresh to the market from the personal collection of an avid collector of top quality 19th century lighting, this Rococo gasolier features six graceful arms covered in sinuous leaves of varying sizes. Each arm radiates off a large circular open basket that is also surrounded by leaves and bunches of hanging grapes. The bottom of this basket shape is also covered in leaves and ends with a large bunch of grapes as it's finial. Above this large bottom section, in the center of the vertical shaft is a slightly smaller woven basket shape that is also girded with leaves and grapes and finished with more leaves at it's bottom end. At the top of the shaft below the canopy is another set of leaves which hold the long, swaged leaf chains that attach to the arms under the shades. This extraordinary light is finished to perfection by six, Period, snow flake etched, 7" diameter, clear and frosted shades, which are ringed by 7" long cut crystal pendants. This is a fixture of very rare quality and condition with a virtually perfect original gilt finish which we believe to have been made by the renowned lighting maker, Cornelius and Co. of Philadelphia. Professionally converted from gas and re-wired for safety. Very fine condition. 42 " long as shown x 47" diameter.   « Less

Rare and beautiful Rococo chandelier attributed to Cornelius. Typical of the extra fine work of this very highly regarded Philadelphia maker, ornate and yet light and elegant, all original finish gilt brass, with grapes and leaves winding around the entire fixture and four chains of leaves and grapes draped between the arms. This wonderful light also features four clear shades that are etched with wreathes and bows and have a scalloped top. These shades are Period Victorian and came with this light. Professionally converted and re-wired for safety. Fine over-all condition, with virtually no wear to the Dore finish. 38 " long x 35" diameter. Can be lengthened.   « Less
