Late 1800s Victorian brooch which converts into a pendant. It is a heavy gold 8 pointed star brooch mounted with split pearls and a central diamond. Gold is unmarked, but tests as 18ct to 20 ct. Brooch is possibly European. It has a folding bale at the rear so that it can be hung as a pendant, and the brooch pin sets on a separate bar which unscrews when the item is used as a pendant. Measurements: 33 mm diameter (about 1.1/4 inches). Slightly domed shape, with the central cluster of pearls around the diamond being a little raised. Diamond measures approx. 2.5 to 3 mm diameter.
All in excellent condition. Total weight is 11.4 grams. International delivery by air courier. « Less

Late 19th century lava cameo bracelet. Lava cameos were made from the lava of volcanic eruptions in the Italian region (Vesuvius, Etna) . They were popular tourist souvenirs in Victorian times, and are now very collectable. This one has 9 oval medallions, each with a detailed classical Roman head. Green/grey and terracotta colours, natural lava. The mounts are a low grade silver. Bracelet is 19cm (7.1/2 inches) long. Cameos are 2 cm by 1.5 cm (3/4 inch by 5/8 inch). Made to look like gold earrings set with garnets and seed pearls, but although the seed pearls are real, the "garnets" are probably crystal, and the gold is vermeil, gold plated over silver. Kauri gum (New Zealand amber) necklace - large raw chunky pieces graduated with small pieces between each larger piece. This would have been a home-made necklace from gum collected. The pieces are all disparate with very irregular shapes and rough and smooth bits. Large necklace, and quite long. Sizes of larger pieces in centre are approx.47 mm by 15 mm and 27 mm by 12mm, graduating down to about 8 mm diameter at the rear of the neck. No clasp, continuous loop style. Total length of necklace is 725 mm. It is strung on nylon thread. (Kauri gum is the fossilized resin of the kauri tree, and is many thousands of years old. It was dug up from the ground mostly in the 19th century, and mainly in the north of the North Island of New Zealand). « Less

Absolutely beautiful Art Nouveau period Arts & Crafts necklace. Hallmarked for sterling silver, Chester 1910. The maker is the well-known Charles Horner. The silver pendant is triangular with delicate cut-work and silver bead work. The silver has that slightly dulled, sightly fumed look so beloved of the Arts & Crafts movement. Centrally set with an iridescent piece of dreamy sea pearl. The suspension chain also has a similar pearl. There are three little faceted pieces of stone also set into the face of the pendant. Length of chain is 51 cm, and the pendant hangs 6 cm below this. Pendant measures 3 cm by 3.6 cm. Excellent condition. « Less
