Dainty little early Victorian mourning or remembrance ring. The face of the ring is gold scrolls mounted with a clover shape of three turquoises and five tiny little mine-cut diamonds. At the rear of the face is a glass panel under which is a tiny area of tightly plaited dark brown hair. Face of ring measures 7 mm diameter (just over 1/4 inch). Ring is in very good condition, there is some thinning to the band at the rear of the finger, but this was always a fine ring, and it is in perfectly good condition to last quite a few more years. Ring fitting is English H+ (USA size 4) with an internal diameter of 14.86 mm. Very beautiful ring from a long-ago era, circa 1830s-40s.   « Less

Beautiful 20 strand coral necklace, with metal beads as a design feature. The coral is a wonderful old dark red colour, and each strand is approx. 2 mm diameter, making up a thick necklace. Length is 66 cm (26 inches). The clasp is wound thread button and loop, and the button (a brightly coloured paste glass) would not be original to the necklace. Some unravelling of the twine winding at this end also. Otherwise in excellent condition. Probably dates early 20th century.   « Less

Rare Victorian tortoiseshell pique drop earrings, faulted, but lovely. Gold ear pieces, with top ball of tortoiseshell inlaid with gold and silver band and star. The drop is a pyramidal piece, heavily inlaid with gold and silver. One of these earrings has a tip broken off the drop. Style is rather Egyptian, probably made during England's fascination with the tomb discoveries in Egypt at the time. Drop from ear is 6o mm (2.3/8inches). Apart from the broken tip, they are in excellent condition. The fault could be restored, as luckily the break does not affect the gold inlay - the pointed tip could be built up.   « Less

Greenstone brooch (jade - called greenstone in New Zealand). Long sword brooch with engraved gold capping and ornamental detailing. Hallmarked 9ct at the rear. This dates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, approx. 1890s-1905. It measures 85 mm long. It has one old repair (totally inconspicuous) where the handle of the sword meets the gold hilt. Silver brooch, butterfly with turquoise-set wings and body, and tiny garnet eyes. The rear has a highly unusual style of clasp - there are two prongs with sharp ends facing each other, and you fold the wings outwards to open the gap between the prongs just enough to slip the sharp point into fabric. Possibly a lace pin. It measures 35 mm wide and 20 mm high (1.7/16 inches by 3/4 inch). Excellent condition. Probably from the very early 20th century.   « Less

Very attractive 5 diamond estate ring. Probably dates early part of 20th century. Mount is handmade in 18ct yellow gold and platinum. Stamped "18CT". Five in-line platinum-topped rubover collet settings with yellow gold pierced scroll design galleries. Tapered rounded shank. Diamonds are old European, old Swiss and single cut. They vary slightly, being G-H colour for the European, and F-G colour for the Swiss. all I1 clarity. (One small chip to plat.pavilion on one). Ring size is English size L (USA size 5.1/2) with an internal diameter of 16.10 mm. The ring has recent valuation, which will be supplied to the purchaser. It lists the retail market value as NZ$1500.00, and the new comparison value as NZ$3300.00. We are selling it for well below these prices.   « Less
