Rare, Pullman Railroad Car dual purpose Eastlake walnut commode with hidden fancy marble sink. Somebody thought of everything with this piece Slant front writing surface on what appears to be a typical commode of this period actually conceals a fancy marble sink with sea shell spigot. The wood back splash is hinged to cover a tin lined water reservoir. Two small drawers with original brass hardware flank the sink. The base is a double door cabinet with original lock and key. We have for sale an 1800's oak washstand commode dresser. The washstand has a towel bar for your towels and wash cloth. It has two full length dove tail drawers. Has two storage areas behind two doors for your commode and pitcher and bowl. The dresser is on rollers. We do not know the exact age or date it was made. The total height is 57 1/4 inches by 40 inches by 20 1/2 inches and weighs 87 pounds. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested. A beautiful and exquisitely patinaed chest of drawers made at the beginning of the 20th century. This stunning piece is boasting a lovely rosewood veneer highlighted by its original serpentine shaped Alep Breccia marble sitting above the bombe façade featuring a pair of drawers mounted with the original hardware and embellished with inlaid design depicting floral pattern, all supported by slightly scrolled cabriole legs on sabots. The gilt bronze ornaments on the sides of the drawers represent acanthus leaves and circle shaped garlands, the top is made out of Alep marble. Very good condition. Napoléon III Period, Circa: 1880. A Pierre Chapo massive elm commode, of a rectangular shape, with seven drawers. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) is born in a family of craftmen. After his regular studies, he worked for some time in the workshop of a navy carpenter. He was graduated architect in 1958 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, after having travelled in the United States and in Europe. He opened his own workshop first in Clamart as well as a shop in Paris. His work was inspired by Charlotte Perriand. Ten years later he settled down in Gordes, where he based the Société Chapo. He then dedicated himself mainly to his work as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker and gave a serie of lectures about his great passion, wood. Very good condition. Design Period, Circa: 1965. Dim: W: 35,4 in - D: 20,9in - H: 21,3in. / Une commode en orme massif de Pierre Chapo, de forme rectangulaire avec sept tiroirs. Le montage et le travail d'ébènisterie est de très grande qualité. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) né dans une famille d'artisans, fait ses études au lycée de Romainville, puis à Vierzon entre 1937 et 1947. Il travaille pendant quelque temps dans l'atelier d'un charpentier de marine, puis entame des études d'architecte à l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Il sera diplômé en 1958, ayant souvent interrompu le cours de ses études pour voyager aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Il ouvre alors un atelier à Clamart ainsi qu'un magasin à Paris, boulevard de l'Hôpital. Il s'est beaucoup inspiré du travail de Charlotte Perriand. Dix ans plus tard il acquiert une maison à Gordes où il installe le siège de la Société Chapo S.A.. Il se consacre alors essentiellement à la menuiserie et à l'ébénisterie tout en donnant des conférences sur sa grande passion, le bois. Here is an exquisite Lingerie Cabinet boasting an interesting and lovely patinaed rosewood veneer and highlighted by its original and thick Alep Breccia marble, which has been repaired at some point. This piece is commonly called Semainier by the French, the word Semaine means week for the French, each drawer representing one day of the week. The façade is adorable and mounted with bronze ormolus, each drawer is accented with its original garland shaped handles and escutcheons, and all is supported by slightly scrolled cabriole legs adorned with cast bronze sabots.
