Beautiful Art Nouveau / Art Deco Gilt Bronze Circa early 1900's sculpture depicting a beautiful woman blowing bubbles. Her hair is tightly braided on the sides in a style that was fashionable in the early 1900's. She is signed in the bronze Soding. The detail and quality of this sculpture is as good as one might ever hope to find. The subject and composition is wonderful. This is a rare and wonderful erotica model sculptured by one of the best sculptors of the early 1900's. She is in excellent condition. Her face and body are extremely lifelike. She is 43.2 cm,17 inches tall. She is mounted on an octagonal polished marble base that is four sided at the bottom. The base does justice to this extraordinary sculpture. Englebert Joseph Peiffer was born in Cologne, Germany on May 14, 1830 and died in Hamburg on October 18, 1896. He produced bronze busts and statues of historic and contemporary artistic celebrities. Actors, painters, and writers were amongst his most favorite subjects. He also sculpted the Hansa Fountain in Hamburg. The bronze bust we are offering is an exquisite lifelike example of this artist's work. It depicts a beautiful young lady with her hair up. At her breast rests a love bird with an aged silvered patina. The bust is inscribed Peiffer along the border of the lady's shoulder. The back is inscribed Susse Freres Editeurs Paris and is also stamped with an H under the foundry seal. She's mounted on a green marble base. Not including the base she measures 3-7/8 inches high. Including the base she measures 4-1/4 inches high. Widest width from shoulder to shoulder is 2-1/4 inches. Weight 1 lb. The pictures show it all. The bronze depicts an exquisite gilt bronze nude lady walking with her right hand behind her head and her left hand slightly to her back. She has a beautiful sweet, expressive face. Exquisite huge and beautiful antique bronze sculpture of a gorgeous Diana on a rockwork base. She is nude except for her jeweled belt and crescent moon in her hair. She has a gorgeous medium chocolate brown patina and is inscribed on the rock work base P. Aichele. It also has a metal plaque on the front of the bottom of the base titled Diana. Paul Aichele a German sculptor (1859-1910) We did a little research on this artist and found his most expensive bronze at auction realized $18,338.00 at Sotheby's London on October 5, 2000 lot# 154. He sculpted large size images. Another example he did is a hunter with an eagle Ganymede and the Eagle. This beautiful bronze of Diana has a height of 32-1/2 inches. Weight 24 lbs. Juno was childless so she is always portrayed with her pet peacock. This is a very rare, lifelike, and beautiful sculpture depicting the wife of Jupiter. The bronze is inscribed H. LevaSeur on the side. She is beautifully sculptured and looks very much alive. The bronze measures 21-1/2 inches high to the top of the peacock's crest. Superb antique bronze sculpture depicting a beautiful nude maiden holding a heart in her right hand and a floral wreath and arrows in her left hand. She has a very beautiful and peaceful face. There is a golden glow of warmth and love emanating from this sculpture. It is inscribed E. Peynot in the bronze. The artist, Emile Edmond Peynot (1850-1932) was born in France on November 22, 1850 and died there on December 12, 1932. He studied with Jouffroy and Robinet and exhibited at the Salon from 1873 onwards, winning the Prix de Rome in 1880 and numerous medals between 1883-1886, as well as gold medals at the Exposition Universelles of 1889 and 1900. He became Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in 1891 and an officer in 1903. He sculptured many monuments and statues all over France. His minor works include projects from monuments, notably those honoering Claude Gellie and Paul Bert. This sculptor has auction records of more than $50,000. for some of his sculptures.
