Pre-victorian, circa 1830 Staffordshire Pearlware triple spill vase in the form of two yellow birds perched in a florally decorated tree above their nest. Four sheep on the ground below. Green shredded clay decoration to ground and nest. Decorated all round. Hollow base. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Some small flakes to shredded clay and one to lower base edge. A few paint losses to brown enamel on one bird and to the spills. Some wear to reverse. Kiln effects: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to lower base edge. Restoration of one bird''s head. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Shredded clay decoration to the ground. Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire spill vases modeled as a boy and girl, both sat in a tree holding a milk pail. A russet and white cow stands on the ground below. The girl has two bundles of corn in her lap. Two legs of each cow, and one leg of the boy are molded free. Shredded clay decoration to the ground and tree. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Two putto draped in a loin cloth molded on either side of the neck. Turquoise band around the base. Mottled cream, green and blue glazes to rim and neck interior with the same glazing inside the foot. Vase 1 (Large): Kiln effects: small glaze miss to rose bud; stray turquoise glaze to faces of putto on neck. Restoration to fill a hole in the base.
