Victorian, circa 1850 Staffordshire figure with a Theatrical and Literary theme which features a boy beside a pillar, putting a crown on his head, stood on a rectangular base. The piece is titled, ''HENRY. V. TRYING ON THE CROWN.'' to the front of the base. Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt titles and embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the underside. This piece represents a scene from the Shakespeare play, ''The Second Part of King Henry IV''. Book reference,''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 296, figure 1078. Generally good. Kiln effects: a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the base front corners; Notable crazing; craze lines to the mold join up the side, to the pillar on the front and also to the reverse. Circa 1910 Five piece Minton Secessionist No.7 bathroom set. Comprising a wash bowl, jug/pitcher, chamber pot, sponge dish and drainer and a soap dish with cover and drainer. Decorated in shades of blue with gray tube linings. Cream interiors. Three stilt marks to undersides with printed maker''s marks ''MINTONS LTD No7''. Measurements - Wash bowl: 5.25ins high, 16.5ins diameter. Pitcher: 14.5ins high. Chamber pot: 5ins high, 9ins diameter. Sponge dish: 3ins high, 7.25ins diameter. Soap dish: 3ins high, 5.25ins diameter. Good. Wash bowl: Slight wear to rim. Kiln effects: several glaze pops to exterior; stained crazing to interior and underside. Three repaired rim cracks. Victorian, circa 1860 Pair (possibly matched. Crazing differs between the two figures and the girl figure is slightly taller than the boy) Staffordshire figures of a young boy and girl, probably Royal children, each lying on the back of a russet and white spaniel. The spaniel is standing on an oval, naturalistic base with three legs molded free. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Vent hole to reverse of both figures and another to underside of the boy figure. Painted mark to underside of both. Similar piece illustrated figure 2244, page 146, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Boy: Hairline to reverse of base. Gilt almost completely rubbed. Slight rubbing to tip of spaniel''s tongue. Kiln effect: Restored chip to the boy''s right foot. Retouching to the spaniel.
