Historical Context: This coin was minted in LARISSA, THESSALY during the 4th Century BC. Thessaly was located in Central Greece on the western shore of the Aegaen Sea. It was a vast plain, surrounded by mountains with a river, River Peneios, running through it. Thessaly was famed in its day for its fine horses and horseman.
