RARE late 16th early 17th century Italian Renaissance walnut credenza. Measures height 45 inches, width 78 inches depth 20 inches small damage to left side near the top, pull on left door is old but replaced. Brand on inside doors probably mean that credenza comes from either a church or a monastery   « Less

Jacobean Revival style English cabinet in oak, walnut and exotic inlays. Extravagantly carved with flowers, animals and mythical beasts on virtually every surface. Two doors and three drawers all skillfully inlaid with flowers and leaves. Original beveled glass mirror, set in between the upper doors and lower drawers. The interior is all fancy quarter-sawn oak. The hardware is simple brass pulls. Extra good "as found" condition, with no repaired or replaced wood except for a narrow strip on the back used to fill a shrinkage crack (see photo). Stamped on the top drawer by the well known English cabinet maker Edwards & Roberts (more information below). 74" tall x 34" wide x 17 1/2" deep. Price 5,600.Edwards & Roberts The firm Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Important 19th Century American Renaissance Revival rosewood parlor cabinet. Beautifully restored, with all over impressive detail, this piece features a gilded gesso center medallion of a fully costumed Roman soldier seated on his war horse and gilded gesso busts of classical figures in each corner. It also has banded inlay, gilt incising and brass trim. The interior is bird's-eye maple with the original bird's-eye maple shelves.   « Less

English, Late Victorian two part mirrored cabinet. Very decorative, light honey-colored walnut with lots of ebonized trim and fine Rococo influenced carving. It is unusual to find a cabinet of this style with a mirrored door. This one features a long oval with a large beveled edge. The key hole covers are also unusual, they appear to be decorative pressed hard leather. The top cabinet interior is fine Bird's Eye Maple with two shelves of the same wood with ebonized trim. The shelves are adjustable. The bottom cabinet is serpentine in shape with two drawers with original walnut and brass drop pulls and two doors with working lock and key. The interior has a single original shelf. The front of the cabinet is very fine original condition. Each side of the cabinet has shrinkage cracks, one of which is quite large. We have not done any refinishing on this piece, we think it looks good all original even with the cracks in the sides. The cracks could be filled if desired. All original "as found" condition. 91" tall x 44 1/4" wide x 19 1/2" deep   « Less

The cabinet is lined in very old Florentine marbled paper. It was found in Tuscany and was probably made there.
