Item #4772. A superb French commode or chest in a transitional Louis XVI style with rectilinear shape. Made all in solid wood (kingwood) and original ormolu bronze hardware and fittings with Greek key bronze detail on top. Outstanding inlaid and veneer. Thick beveled marble top original to the piece in a white and gray veins tone. Three dove tailed drawers, top one sorter than the other two. A fine piece of furniture for your interior decor!!! CONDITION: The piece is in very good shape, firm and sturdy with only one details. Pictured in the center front 3 very old and deep scratches that are really difficult to spot at first sight since they are so old that have the same age patina on them as in the rest of the piece. Other than that perfect shape. Marble in perfect condition. Bid with confidence!! MEASURES: 46" WIDE X 20" DEEP X 34.5" HIGH approx. Superb hand inlaid floral design on the front made all with fruit woods. Original bronze pulls and bronze decorative fitting on the corners and legs. Thick beveled marble top with outstanding color. The piece features three drawers the top one hides a secretary or small desk. The front drops and the interior shows small drawers and storage space for letters and others. This is a very fine American early 19th century New York Sheraton mahogany & mahogany veneered formal commode with a delicate finely reeded top board, one finely dovetailed long mahogany drawer, with two mahogany banded doors below opening to a large storage space, with refined inlaid flame crotched mahogany base case banding & all formed on four refined elegantly turned & reeded legs, with three elongated diamond inlaid escutcheons on the commode front. Circa: 1800-1815 Overall excellent condition. This lovely commode is a high style piece of 19th century New York Sheraton furniture which is both practical for modern 21st century daily use & a difficult antique form to find.
