Beautiful antique bronze sculpture artist signed H. Giraud (Henri Giraud 19th Century Listed French Sculptor). The bronze angel is in excellent condition. The angel holds an arrow in one hand and listens to a beating heart held in his other hand. The model we are offering has its original titled plaque IL BAT. The bronze is in superb condition with a beautiful rich chocolate brown patina. Cupid's wingspan is 9 inches. From his elbow to his finger tip he measures 9 inches wide. Height 20-3/4 inches. Beautiful antique bronze bust signed van der Straeten. On the back of the bust below the signature, is a foundry seal with a coat of arms, a crown, and the inscription SOCIETE DES BRONZES DE PARIS. The bronze also has the letter p and incised numbers 526 above the foundry seal. This is a beautiful bronze sculptured by a talented artist. George van der Straeten was an important Belgian sculptor 1856-1928. The bust depicts a beautiful young lady with a big ruffled collar. Her hair is up and she wears a headdress/scarf tied in a bow around her head. At the base is a flower and on the other side a bronze mask. She measures 23-1/2 inches high with widest width measuring 13-3/4 inches. Weight 52 lbs. She is in excellent condition with a beautiful light chocolate brown patina and a medium green brown patina to her hat and clothing. She has a very happy expression on her face. She's smiling and looks very much alive. The artist did an incredible job capturing the lifelike image of his beautiful model. Eutrope Bouret is a listed French sculptor who was born in Paris on April 16, 1833 and died in 1906. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1875-1903 winning medals and honors during his career. The beautiful bronze we are offering has a lovely light to medium chocolate brown patina and is in excellent condition. She stands on a burgundy variegated marble base. She is inscribed Bouret at the bottom of the robe along the back. She's standing on a book, perhaps the Book of Knowledge. From the bottom of the book to the top of her head she measures 15-1/4 inches excluding the base. Including the base the sculpture measures 16-3/4 inches. Weight 15-3/4 lbs. Beautiful antique classical gilt bronze lady looking at the flowers she is holding in her right hand while also holding a bouquet of flowers in her left hand down at her side. The top of her classical dress slides down her left shoulder displaying her breast. She has a very peaceful and happy look on her face. This lovely bronze in excellent condition measures 13-1/2 inches high on a beautifully detailed pedestal base measuring 3-1/2 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches deep. Weight 4-1/2 lbs. The bronze is unsigned as were many pieces in the 19th century. Bronzes like these were usually miniaturizations of larger than life size monumental sculptures. Smaller versions were made for collectors in the 19th century called Grand Tour pieces. They were sold to Americans visiting Europe for the first time on the Grand Tour.
