I hope the photos do this stunning pair some justice, they are certainly more impressive in the flesh. The details are exquisite, these really are a lavish pair ready to add style and elegance to any interior. The figures are hand painted in luxurious colours, gold for the dress, the red pedestal base and the black for the skin tones. The brush work is very intricate, definitely the work of a steady and skilled hand. The details on the carved sections are also very intricate, inluding the sun heads to the base, beaded edges and of course the figures themselves, particulary features like the drape to the dress and their marvellous facial expressions. They are both offered in great shape ready for home display right away and we will ship to anywhere in the world. We bought these from a dealer in Kensington and they are originally from Italy. Description: You are viewing a wonderful casting depicting a horse and jockey, and the overall sculpture stands in at an impressive nearly four feet. The piece is a recast from a Mene and this is signed on the base. Mene was the reknowned French sculpture famous for his depictions of animals, particularly horses and this is a fine example. Of course being bronze this piece can live outside with no fear of rusting and this would make a wonderful garden ornament. Mene has captured the movement and energy of the scene with skill, check out details like the muscle tone to the horse as he breaks into a cantour. The jockey is shown leaning to one side stroking the horses mane. It's a wonderful picee, offered in perfect condition and ready for home use right away. We will ship this to anywhere in the world. Description: These really are a unique and wonderful pair of Italian Venetian dwarf blackamoor torcheres or lamps which stand in at an impressive 7.5 feet each. They are a perfect left and right and each holds the large vine which leads to the white frosted glass light shades. These are pre- electrified for the English market - it would be easy to adapt them for other countries using an adaptor bought at any hardware store. They are ornately cast from bronze; black for the arms, face and feet and ornate gold for the rest. These are an important pair and are of a museum quality. The casting is incredibly intricate. Look at details like the intricate headress and the fabulous designs to their dresses. I hope the photos do this pair some justice as they are definitely better in the flesh. We bought these at an auction in York where we were told they had lived in a rectory for many years. Description: From the style of the sculpture including the elongated features of the boy and the smooth almost aerodynamic look of the work we would date this as late art deco early 30s style. It stands in at over five foot tall and is impressive without being imposing. The piece depicts a tall boy with outstretched arms holding a bucket high above his head. There is a hole in the bucket which suggests this would have been used as a water feature. This is how I imagine this piece really working with a pipe running up the back and a stream of water flowing from the bucket into a small lake in which the boy stands. This would really look fantastic especially with the right lighting on a balmy summers night. Being cast from the highest quality bronze the piece can withstand the vigours of outdoor use with no worries of rust. The patina to the bronze has a lovely menthol green leading to darker variations over tone variances. The style of his hair - a short quiff to one side - also suggests a late 20s early 30s style. We were lucky enough to find this at an architectural salvage company in Islington, London. Due to the unusual nature of this piece it will be of particular interest to interior and exterior designers or perhaps just the discerning individual.
