Culture: INDUS VALLEY (Baluchistan). Date: 3000 B.C. Material: TERRACOTTA. Provenance: EX: EARLY PRIVATE COLLECTION. Condition: INTACT, EXCELLENT. Measurements: 2.8 INCHES HIGH (7 CMS), 1.6 INCHES LONG (4 CMS). This figure is among the most distinctive figures of the region, in the form of a seated woman with hair piled piled on both sides of the head. Our example has hair spiraling in two massive buns, with two drilled eyes. The neck and chest are covered with layers of necklaces. The arms tucked underneath the large breasts and the legs are bent at the knees. An extremely rare example in an excellent state of preservation. Jarrige 1988, also Jarrige and Lechevallier 1979, p. 508, fig. 25. « Less
