For Sale is a lovely vase made by Fratelli Toso (Murano) of Italy. This piece could be called a "Ewer, Creamer, or Cabinet Vase". The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 3/8" (188 mm) tall to the top of the handle and is 3 1/2" (88.90 mm) in diameter at its widest points.
The Vase displays green, amethyst and white murrines on a clear ground with a clear applied, crimped handle. The form of the vase resembles a ewer or small bulbous pitcher with an elongated neck. The Vase was manipulated as a free form and not a mold blown piece as the murrines in the neck are stretched in the middle from this process. The rim of the pitcher has been flared out with an exaggerated pour spout. The ewer has a gloss finish and is really quite stunning with great contrasting colors.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a small Pontil Scar on the bottom. The Vase is not signed but the decoration is a well documented decor by Fratelli Toso (Murano) Italy done during the Mid Century Modern Era. More than likely this had a paper label at one time. This Italian Art Glass Vase was made Circa 1950-1959. « Less

For Sale is a beautiful Art Glass Vase made by Kathleen Orme of Chico, CA. The Vase is known as a Cameo Glass Vase. This Art Glass Vase measures 7 1/8" tall and is 5 5/8" More »
For Sale is a beautiful Art Glass Vase made by Kathleen Orme of Chico, CA. The Vase is known as a Cameo Glass Vase. This Art Glass Vase measures 7 1/8" tall and is 5 5/8" wide at the bulge or widest part of the vase. The outside of the rim measures 3 3/4" in diameter and the foot is 2 1/4'.
The vase depicts a Floral Basket arrangement with what looks like Peonies and small Bell Flowers. The detail is unbelievable. When you run your fingers over the basket you can feel all the raised and recessed lines in the basket. Just like in real life!! The Glass base color is Ruby Red with a thick white Glass over coat. Kathleen Orme did not blow the glass but she did the Cameo Cutting. The blank was blown by Carl Radke of Phoenix Studios.
I bought this vase back in the late 80's from her. When I spoke to her she told me that if she figured what she made per hour it would have been around $5. This Vase took about 2-3 weeks to make. She drew her pattern over the blank on special tape and preceded to cut back the white to make her raised relief pattern of Flowers in a woven basket. She cut back this using a sand blasting technique as opposed to acid. This is much more time consuming and by far safer health wise. You can see by the details in the vase she was a master at this. The raised detail over the Red Blank is Outstanding!!
The Vase is in excellent condition as there are absolutely no issues to report. The piece is signed with a registered number that reads "KO 350-1389" The Vase is also signed on the lower part of the Basket Weave" with her raised mark on the glass that read "Kathleen Orme" Kathleen Orme has not produced and Cameo Glass since the early 90's. There are very few examples of her work in the market place today. This is my last Kathleen Cameo Vase. I had 3 but lost 2 in a fire some 7 years ago. I have cherished this vase for many years but now its time to move on to another home that will love it the same.
This is a quality piece of Contemporary American Art Glass as well as being of Investment Quality. This is the only known Red Vase that I have seen from her work. I'm quite sure collectors of the early manufacturers would not be disappointed with this purchase. « Less

For Sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass made by the Union Glass Company (Kew Blas) of Somerville, Mass (1893-1927). The Vase is considered a Cabinet form. The Vase stands 2 3/4" Tall and is 4 1/8" in diameter at the bulge. The Pattern is called "Pulled Feather" and the decoration is just wonderful.
The Vase displays a wonderful Squat form. The body similar to a space ship rises up from a round foot and has a raised neck with a slightly flared top lip. This is all formed from a single piece of glass. It has a very lovely Gold Pulled Feather Pattern over a Calcite white base glass. The Pulled feather decoration is very similar to L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile version of Pulled feathers as they are more abstract than Quezal or Steuben which were executed with precision. These Feather Pulls actually start at the bottom underside and are pulled up above the shoulder of the squat form. This is very difficult to do. The inside of the Vase is finished with a brilliant gold iridescence as you can see.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The bottom of the vase shows minor wear and is typical of a Vase with this much age to it. The Vase is signed with the wide etched "KEW-BLAS signature mark inside of the counter sunk polish pontil.
Employee William Blake produced a range of art glass called Kew Blas, which was an anagram of his name. He did this during his employment with The Union Glass Company of Somerville, Mass. This Vase is Much Rarer than Kew Blas's contemporaries of the day such as L.C.T. Favrile, Steuben, Quezal and Loetz. They only blew this type of Art Glass for 8 years. It rivals the Quality of LCT Tiffany Favrile and is quite similar. I'm know the Buyer will be very pleased with their purchase.
This vase was made circa 1907-1915. « Less

The Compote is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue to report minor scratches to bowl and bottom foot. This is quite common for an 80 year old piece. The piece is not signed but is has the same feel as other Pairpoint Compote I have had in the past. Pairpoint Glass was the same quality level of Steuben Colored Glass at the turn of the century.
The wheel cutting in this compote is not as commonly found as the Grape and Leaves. The turned edge make this piece quite desirable. I'm quite sure the buyer will be pleased with their purchase. This Compote was made Circa 1920-1925. « Less
