SOLD: A complete old Tibetan ladies purse made of Yak leather and inlaid with silver and gilt carvings with a center piece of Turquoise. The front has carvings of two fish (representing the beginning of life)and flower design. The back has a center tree design. There is a silver woven chain attached to the top for carrying. The handle of the bell has a patina in colors of green and lapis blue. Comes with stand. Period: Khmer Period (Cambodia) 12th/13th Century Size: Height = 21.5 cm., Diameter of Bell = 10.8 cm. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer. A rare wooden Buddha in a seated position on a lotus pedestal. The face is serenely contemplative and the robe is carved to show the gathered folds. Wooden Buddhas from this period are very difficult to find. This Buddha has a natural, calming presence. Period: Yuan/Ming or earlier Size: Height = 31 cm., Width at base = 18 cm. Condition: The wood has shrinkage and cracks from age. The right ear and fingers of the left hand are missing. A necklace of 26 large Tibetan turquoise beads ranging in color from delicate greenish-blue hues to a vibrant turquoise blue separated by silver rings. Each bead has its own attractive matrix and nice patina from years of wearing. The necklace was bought together with the two glass dZi beads in Lhasa, Tibet. It was restrung again recently to give it strength. Period: 19th Century. These are heirloom beads that get passed down. Size: Length of strand: 71 cm (28 inches) The largest bead is 35mm x 20mm. The smallest (at the end) is 10mm x 10mm Condition: Good condition. This strand is stunning as it is but each bead has its own unique beauty and many of them would also be fantastic in separate necklaces as a central bead.
