Nice bouillon cups and saucer, hand painted and signed by artist E.D. McCue. Soft shades of pink and green ground overlaid with sprays of poppy blossoms, buds and leafs. Heavy gold encrusted handles with gilt accents on shaped saucer and soup cup base. Condition is very good to excellent. Some minor wear/loss to the gilt as clearly shown in the photos. The piece is marked on the bottom of cup and saucer with 'Haviland France' in green underglaze. The artist's signature is on the saucer as shown in the photos. The underglaze marks on this set likely dates the piece to 1894-1931; it was used on blanks. The artist decorated the bouillon.   « Less

Terrific little Austrian demi-tasse cup & saucer, richly gilt and signed by the artist. A deep red, almost a maroon, enamel overlays the white ground. The edges of the saucer are gilt, and there is a fine gold decoration encircling the saucer with four gilt foliate motif designs. the cup has a cartouche, rimmed with two types of gold border, surrounding a pastoral romantic scene. The figural group, in situ, is a mixture of transfer and hand painting; it is this where we find the signature. It looks like "Forsh" to me; but I am terrible at this sort of thing. The rim of the cup is gilt, the handle absolutely smothered in gold, and inside the cup is a large gilt band. Condition is very good. The gild work is nearly perfect. A tiny loss, shown on the 7th picture. Also shown on picture 7 is a tiny loss of enamel. There are no chips, hairlines, hazing, crazing, breaks, etc. Both cup and saucer are marked with a beehive mark associated with Haas & Czjzek, active 1918-1945; and "Made in Austria". Dimensions: The saucer is 4.5" diameter, 0.5" high. The cups is 2" tall, 2.75" long and 2" diameter at the top.   « Less

Nevers mid to late 18th Century French faience cup and saucer. A really special find featuring a kneeling Breton woman on the cup, and floral sprays on saucer. Sometimes thought to be Quimper, the faiencerie is in the Rouen region ofNorthern France. Impressive size and painted details, a rare collectors showpiece which displays beautifully. Plate bears number 1911, which I believe is the item number. Here is an immaculate set of four service bowls, covers and plates, all signed as shown with a six character Hirado mark on all 12 pristine pieces. Beautifully decorated demitasse cup and saucer. Lovely, formal 18th century French style decoration in very fine original condition make this cup and saucer a stand out. There are two maker marks on this set, we could see a mark sticking out from under the stamp on the bottom of the saucer so we scraped the top mark off to reveal the original under the glaze mark which is why there is a different mark pictured on the cup. The original mark is for Phoenix China, Czechoslovakia which dates to the early 20th Century. Extremely fine transfer ware decoration on both the cup and saucer with an inset panel of a courting couple on one side of the cup. There is a lot of gilded detail including the rims of both pieces and the handle of the cup. Very good condition. 4" saucer diameter, cup is 3 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" tall.   « Less
