It is a type of cephalic disorder which occurs when there is a premature fusion of the sagittal suture. The sagittal suture joins together the two parietal bones of skull. Scaphocephaly is the most common of the craniosynostosis conditions and is characterized by a long, narrow head." The back of skull is elongated due to the condition Scaphocephaly (similar to the skull elongations within Egypt's Thutmosid Royal Line, including those of Tutankhamun and Akhenaten, which is attributed to 'Dolichocephaly'), it is much more noticeable in person than in photographs and is the reason for the incomparable provenance of this item explained below; come see this extremely interesting medical antiquity currently on display in our LA showroom, open to the public 5 days a week! Provenance: Records of this skull date as far back as 1825 at which time it was entrusted to the founder of the Birmingham Medical School of England shortly before the school opened, which was to be one of the first modern Surgical and Medical Graduate Colleges in the World and only the 2nd such institution in all of Great Britain (within a few years the Medical School was expanded into a full University, which continues to operate today). The skull was acquired for the Inauguration of the Medical School to serve as the central display during the festivities of this grand innovation of education and it would become the "main attraction" for both prospective medical students and established academics alike, many of whom came to see a human skull for the first time in their lives. It remained on display for study and viewing at The Birmingham University School of Medicine for the remainder of its history, as far as we are able to ascertain, until being acquired legally in the United States, via a trusted and accredited dealer of rare artifacts, by The Zep Tepi Emporium in 2015. Sewing collectible, a little Victorian needle case, Mauchlineware decoration on wood, the subject being Wrexham Church. One side shows the interior with a couple in Victorian dress, the other shows the exterior. Case measures 52 mm high by 26 mm wide and 15 mm deep. Lined internally with a white soft paper. Super find for mid century kitsch collectors!!! Hand made Floridian diorama TV lamp. 13 ½” wide, 7” tall 9” deep. Super colorful piece with a composition pink flamingo with metal wire legs, a green painted iron palm tree, various shells and corals…all set against a background of 2 large conch shells and embedded in a thick, heavy, cast composition base. All hand painted. Unique piece! It is un-cleaned as found. We only brushed the surface dust off (and it was ½” thick) with a soft brush. From an old woman’s estate, collected in Florida in the 1950’s on her honeymoon! SUPER RARE FIND! Museum worthy! Price is firm. Thanks for looking.   « Less
