For Sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by The Burley and Winter Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. The shape is a Double Handled Vase. The piece measures 6 3/8" tall and is 6 5/8" in diameter outside handle measurements. The opening or mouth of the Vase is 4 9/16" in diameter on the outside rim. The Vase depicts an all over Mottled Glaze that resembles a Watercolor Painting. There are hues of Blue, Aqua, Green, Yellow and Mauve. Burley Winter Pottery is rarely decorated because the beauty of their work is in their very Pleasing Shapes and Artistic Glazes. There are two handles that attach to the rim and belly of this lovely pot. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There are a couple of small glaze misses that happened in manufacturing and is very common with Burley Winter Pottery. The piece is unsigned except for the impressed"54" which is the shape number. The original Burley Winter Pottery Company was in business from 1872-1932. It has somewhat of a complex history as there were quite a few potters named Burley in the Ohio Valley area and also several companies with Burley in their names. There were potters dating back as early as 1825 in the Crooksville, Ohio area with the Burley name and even as late as 1988 was under management of the grandsons of W. N. Burley. These are the ancestors to the Original Potter "Burley and Winters". They are making Pottery in the same exact Building today using some of the same molds that were found. They are using different glazes to establish the difference. They are also signed New Burley Winter. This Vase would look outstanding in any Mission, Arts and Crafts, Country or Shaker setting. This Vase was made Circa 1900-1920. « Less

For sale I have a wonderful Arts and Crafts Shaped Vessel made by Hampshire Pottery of Keene, NH. The piece is known as a " Cylindrical" Vase. The Vase Stands 5 13/16" tall More »
For sale I have a wonderful Arts and Crafts Shaped Vessel made by Hampshire Pottery of Keene, NH. The piece is known as a " Cylindrical" Vase. The Vase Stands 5 13/16" tall and is 3 1/2" in diameter.
The Vase displays a wonderful Matt Cucumber Green Glaze that is pretty uniform throughout. The top edges of the vessel shows some bleeding to a Olive Green. The inside shows where the Matte Green Glaze Dripped inside and you can see Hampshire's Water Proofing Glaze over that. The Bottom edge displays that beautiful ground down, smooth round bottom edge. Hampshire Pottery made 4 versions of this very popular form. This form was the 2nd largest of those.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vessel is signed on the bottom with the incised "Hampshire Pottery" in Script letters along with the letter "M" in a Circle to Honor his Wife "Emoretta". She was the daughter of the founder, James Scollay Taft. There is also the mold or pattern number "17/3" impressed as well.
Hampshire Pottery started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown. This will make a wonderful addition to any Matte Green Pottery collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase.
This piece can be dated based on the "M" in a Circle mark. This was the mark that Cadmon Robertson used during his tenure with Hampshire Pottery. This vase was made, circa 1904-1914. « Less

For sale I have a beautiful Vase made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Thorn Apple" and it is the very desirable Double Handled Vase More »
For sale I have a beautiful Vase made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Thorn Apple" and it is the very desirable Double Handled Vase shape. The Vase stands 6 1/4" Tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter.
The Vase displays a Lovely Salmon-Pink Background glaze that is accented with embossed leaves and Thorn Apple Buds both opened and closed. The leaves are done in a Sage Green with a green overspray all along the bottom portion of the Vase. The Opened Bud is a Creamy White Glaze that is very Pleasing. The opposite side shows a Thorny Pod nestled between 2 embossed Pointy Leaves. These are all done in the Sage Green color. There are 2 Triangular Shaped Deco Styled Handles on each side of the Vase and it sits raised up on a small circular foot.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue is some crazing in the glaze. This can be seen upon very close inspection and is very common with this Glaze combination. The Vase is signed on the bottom with an incised "Roseville" and Shape Number "811-6" mark.
This is a lovely Vase in excellent condition. I'm sure the lucky buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This piece was made, Circa 1937. « Less

For sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Shape is a Rose Bowl Vase and the pattern is "Atlas". The Vase stands 4 1/8" tall and is approximately 6 1/8" in diameter.
The Vase is all about the form and has a nice Rose Bowl shape with a Star shaped opening to hold your flowers or plant. The outside is glazed in a Robins Egg Blue or Turquoise while the interior and the star opening are glazed in a complimentary Cream color. This is a rare form to come across and not seen very often.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. The piece is signed with Weller's in-mold script signature as well as the Artist Signature "R". This is the finisher's mark however I am not sure whose signature it is. This Vase is also known as shape C-3.
The Vase is from Wellers Late Period, Circa 1935-1948. « Less

For sale I have lovely Vase made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Baldin" and the piece is just delightful. The Vase measures 7" tall More »
For sale I have lovely Vase made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Baldin" and the piece is just delightful. The Vase measures 7" tall and is 4" in diameter at the bottom and the top has a diameter of 2 1/2".
This Vase has a wonderful Blending of Green and Brown, Earth Tone Glazes. The Vase displays several very realistic looking Apples. The Apples are hanging from Branches and are Ripe, Plump and some are ready for Picking. The leaves have very nice coloring in them as well. The Apples are glazed in Red with Yellow and slight hues of green. I believe they are Macintosh Apples or "Macs" as we say here in the Northeast.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a Clay inclusion on one of the apples but that was made that way. The bottom has rough spots where the Vase sat. This is common with the Baldin Vases as that happened when it was fired. The piece is not signed but there is no mistaken that this was made by the Weller Pottery Company.
This Weller Baldin Vase has some wonderful coloring and detail. I'm sure the lucky winner will not be disappointed with their Purchase. This Vase will work in any Mission, Arts and Crafts or Country Decor. In Fact, I think it will work with most decors including primitives.
The Vase was produced during Weller's early Middle Period. This piece was made Circa, 1915-1920. « Less
